    Sony BP-U60 reviews

    BP-U60 Lithium-Ion Battery is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 137.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Your only EX option really Lasts twice as long as the BP-U30 for a little less than half the cost. Approx 3 to 4 hours for me. Despite being a half inch bigger and costing more than double than the NP-970 batteries, it doesn't pack nearly the same punch and last several hours less. Since Sony changed their battery line, you don't get a choice as the multi-purpose, well established 970 is not compatible with the EX1. The charger on the EX1 does not tell you an eta on how long it takes to charge. Sometimes the battery status button doesn't work and is not nearly as accurate as the camera is for telling the life of the battery. The battery seems to drain quickly when not in use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long lasting, Good durability Well I took the plunge and ordered a PDW EX1. However I was a little disappointed with the battery life, as it completely ran out of power when stored away inside a box. Later I found out the camera drains the battery continually, even when turned off, but by then I had already bought this battery. Having said that, if you just take the battery out when not using the camera I think this is a better battery for regular use as the BPU-30 will drain almost completely after recording to two slots. (Considering you have the camera turned on to prepare it, and maybe get it ready for several takes) I definitely can make do with this battery and the one that came with the camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Use in Documentary-Style shooting This battery has exeeded my expectations. We can go through about two of these in a day while recording 4 to 5 16 Gb cards at max res. on the EX1. Love the gas guage LED's for power checking. I've recently been not turning the camera off except between locations and two batteries seems to be enough power for an 8 hour day. Wasn't sure when I bought the Ex1 in November, so I overstocked with 6 batteries (who could live without enough power on location?) I see now that we've got enough batts to support another EX1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pricey, but necessary tool When fully charged, this battery provides me with close to 300 minutes of power. I bought it to accompany my PMW-200 camcorder, as the battery that is included with that camera is simply not enough to get through a long shoot. While it obviously does not have the same power capability as the more expensive BP-U90, I feel that I can get through very long (possibly full-day) shoots if I rely on this battery and the smaller BP-U30 that came with my camera. It's pricey, but necessary for anyone who needs a reliable power source for lengthy shoots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Battery! Long Lasting! I own the BP-U30 and it just doesn't give me enough run time. I purchased this BP-U60 and was amazed at how much more time I got and it is a lot nicer not having to stop production to switch out the battery. The only downside is the weight the battery adds to the camera as well as it sticks out a bit further from the back of the camera making it look a bit weird. This however is not a total bad thing as the additional weight of this battery actually helps to balance the camera pretty well when you have hot shoe accessories attached.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unbelievably Expensive Sony puts priparitary chip in this unit to keep the price artificially high

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stamina Batteries are Sony's speciality. The BP-U60 lasts practically all day - I have to remind myself to recharge it after use because I expect it to continue working well into another shooting day. It holds its charge remarkably, even after sitting in a bag for literally weeks during slow job cycles. I've had to frantically swap Anton Bauers and RED batteries after barely an hour of use; not the BP-U60 - I could leave it on all day, including a meal break, and it'll still have at least a 100 minutes of life left in it. This is true even in cold weather conditions, where most batteries usually go down very quickly. An overnight charge keeps this bad boy happy and ready for more the next shooting day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big Camera Battery! Keeps the camera going when I'm shooting video at conferences all day!
