Sony VF-49CPAM Overview

Sony Circular Polarizer - Light rays, which are reflected, become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast.

The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras. (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems.)
This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays to remove haze from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance.

Would this work on a smaller camera like the Sony HX99?
Asked by: Kristen
Unfortunately, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX99 Digital Camera does not have filter threads and would not be compatible for use with the Sony 49mm Circular Polarizing Glass, Filter B&H # SOCP49.

Does this polarizer fits with the lens hoods? I have a Sony Sonnar E T* ZA 24mm 1.8f. I bought a Platinum polarizer and the hood didn't fit.

It doesn't look like it will. You need a slimmer filter. B+W and Rodenstock both make a version. Here is the Rodenstock: https://

As the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX1R II Digital Camera's lens has 49mm filter threads, yes, the Sony 49mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter would be compatible for use on the DSC-RX1R II Digital Camera.

Does this fit sony alpha a6000?
Asked by: Anonymous
This will fit any lens with a 49 mm diameter filter thread on the a 6000, or any other camera. It will NOT fit the 16-50mm a6000 kit lens (it has a 40.5 mm filter thread). It will fit, for example, the 55-210 mm telephoto zoom. You should match the filter to the lens, not to the camera.
