Sony VF-55CPAM overview

  • 1Description

Sony Circular Polarizer - Light rays, which are reflected, become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast.

The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

Note: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras. (They will also work on manual systems and video cameras without problems.)

This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays to remove haze from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance.

Sony VF-55CPAM reviews

55mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I took a chance and I was right! Weddings - Outdoor - Personal Everyday I live in SC and I have been taking pictures for over 30 years. I now own and shoot with two Sony A350's. I wanted to see for myself what all the talk was about Polarizing Glass Filters Going in I wasn't sure what was the best bet for what I was looking for. I saw these filters priced from a little to a lot. I spend lots of time outside shooting around the water. I wanted to bring the blues out in the sky and take the glare off the water. So I ordered it: 55mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter Day one, I put this 55mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter by Sony on one of my lens out by our pool. I could not believe the difference. It's so easy to use. You can adjust the filter to get it perfect! It's so natural looking and everyone will wonder how you got such a rich shot! Next, I took it on a wedding shoot, we shot by the water and I was blown away by the results. I know the Bride was just as pleased! This is keeper, you won't send it back. I hope my review helps? I really look at what others say about products on this site. Can't wait to hear what you have to say? My hope is that you are just as pleased! I give the 55mm Circular Polarizing Glass Filter by Sony 5-Stars

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Adjusting Ring Poorly Designed Bought this filter for my Sony A6500 with Vario-Tessar 16-70 lens. I went with Sony because I thought it would be specifically designed with Sony lenses in mind. Wrong! The filter seems to do it's job OK. But the problem is that the adjusting ring is seated deeply inside the outer ring of the filter, and is very difficult to turn because there's very little of the ring exposed. This gets much worse (darn near impossible) when you have the lens hood installed -- with either the hood pointing out or in (storage mode). This is because the filter sits flush with or even slightly below the inside edge of the hood, and I can't get to it to turn readily. Not without taking off the hood (unacceptable). Guess this will teach me to stick with B+W filters which I have used on my Canon lenses for years. One final note -- I unfortunately am unable to return the filter to B&H because I prematurely recycled the packaging. That's very disappointing since I have spent quite a bit of money with them over the years. At any rate -- lesson learned -- and if you're looking for a CP filter, I'd look elsewhere. Unless you wanna buy this one from me?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied! I purchased the Sony 55 mm polarized filter & I am very happy & satisfied with my purchase. I was notified by email as to when my order would go out, it was shipped in a timely fashion & the day I received it I was out using the filter on my camera. I would definitely order from B&W again without hesitation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the bucks I had been taking photos by the waterfront and was never be able to get rid of the glare and sun light reflection until I mounted this CP on my lenses. It is thin and has the T* coating.
