This is an Elinchrom Ranger RX AS 1100W/s Kit with Ranger A Flash Head The "RX" signifies the ability of the power pack to be fired by a remote control handset, or computer. The "AS" indicates the power pack's ability to divide the power asymmetrically between two attached flash heads. Also improved, is the power range selection: 8.5 f/stops. Lower the power to 5.5 w/s, and switch to slow recycle and up to 5100 exposures can be made.

Elinchrom Ranger has flash durations as short as 1/4310 sec. (with 2 "A" heads attached), ideal for sports, fashion, and theatre photography.

Controls on the pack permit changing the output in 0.1 stop increments in an easy-to-read digital display.

This is a 1 head kit which includes a Ranger "A" flash head. "S" Heads produce a "Standard" flash duration. The "A" for Action heads provide ultra-short flash duration.

Please note: Product specifications are subject to change without notice. This kit does not include a reflector.

Ranger RX AS 1100W/s Kit with Ranger A Flash Head is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This has changed my photography by leaps This is the best system I have EVER used. I like to shoot studio indoors and out and I have been using my 3-Elinchrom Digital Style 600 RX outdoors (even when your not supposed to) and used a Alien Bees Vagabond II to power them. When I received this, I immediately was impressed. I can now have enough power to fight the sun. I can shoot ISO 100 f/22 1/200 and get the sun burst behind my subject while illuminating him. Besides being only able to shoot 250 Full charge cycles on a single battery, I'm actually able to shoot ALL DAY because most of the time I'm shooting a stop above the half way point. What i mean by all day is that I had shot 400 photos in a 4 hour time frame on a single battery without recharge. I'm so impressed that I'm going to buy a couple more so that I can shoot in the rain. For the cost of this system versus a Profoto 7B, I can buy 2 or 3 of these. For pictorial examples, check out my website blog@. I welcome anyone who wants to know more about it by simply messaging me through my site. Also, the head has blown over twice to the ground on a C-Stand and it still continues to work and shoot (my assistant was careless).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Beast Finally waiting for this light. Having the Ranger Quadra as a work horse, this is just a monster upgrade. Just as I expected, a great light from Elinchrom family.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Power to spare I use this for outdoor location portraiture. I've been using various battery powered 400w/s units, and the Ranger is a significant step up. It can overpower broad daylight even with a power-robbing large softbox, even with a polarizer over the lens. At full power with a large silver parabolic umbrella, I am getting f/32.4 at ten feet, but I can dial it down to 5.5 w/s for a kiss of light when needed. Recycle takes a few seconds to full power. The unit seems very well made, with weather proof seals on the battery unit. I'm getting used to the odd power settings (they go from 1.5 to 7.5, with each full step equal to one stop of light. Why not 1 to 7, or something else simpler?) The power pack is heavy when the battery is inserted, but it makes a great stand weight when hung carefully from the light stand. The A head is a decent size, and it's easy to attach a softbox speed ring. It takes the Elinchrom 7mm umbrella shaft, which is an unusual size, and the stand adapter uses a friction system that seems loose -- I have to crank it down very hard to hold it one position, as a softbox tends to pull down the head if I don't. If you use the Pocket Wizard TTL system, buy the receiver for this pack -- it will control the power lever from the camera position. Awesome. But all of this is minor - the Ranger puts out a LOT of power, very consistently. Love it.
