    Plustek A320 reviews

OpticPro A320 Tabloid Flatbed Scanner is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Product and Value Used to scan 12x12 photo albums and other photo albums that contain several photos/page. Also now used for ALL my scanning and copying, both color, gray scale, and B&W. The software is VERY GOOD. The scan rate is FAST. Scans have quite a variety of settings to make the result perfect. The custom buttons are VERY EASY to program. I keep the regular scan button set for color scanning and the Custom 1 button for gray scale scans. This scanner was the ultimate plug and play'. I have NEVER had any trouble with it. I cannot think of a single con. And the price was so much lower than comparable scanners. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK for artwork (update to my earlier review) - I was dissatisfied with the Twain interface (inaccurate colors, highlight clipping). But I'm getting pretty good results with Vuescan and a custom IT8 ICC profile (although I still need to tweak levels and colors in Photoshop). - It appears that the optical resolution (sensor=horizontal) is 600 dpi, the hardware resolution (stepper motor=vertical) is 1600 dpi, and an integrated circuit chip (or internal software) interpolates horizontally to output files greater than 600 dpi. This is not to say that added vertical precision isn't useful in some situations, but it won't capture the detail & sharpness of true 1600 dpi optical resolution.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good bang for the buck I was looking for a larger scanner to scan drawings and illustrations. This one seemed reasonable in price. It creates great results. But when it comes to color reproduction the profile that comes with it is quite frankly garbage. I knew I would purchase Silverfast Studio IT8 anyway, so I was not too worried about the color aspect. Silverfast made my day and gives me almost accurate colors after calibrating the scanner with an IT8 target. It minimizes my time for color correction immensely. I am quite happy with the scanner so far. If you need an affordable over-sized device but make sure you have a way to calibrate it. Way cheaper than the well known brands. If you are willing to invest some time you will get great results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FAST PERFORMANCE REALLY NICE! This PLUSTEK OpticPro A320 scanner is a great value. The speed that it scans is a pleasant surprise; and the fact that it has such a large scanning area is terrific! Granted, much of what a person scans are smaller documents or photos, where a standard scanner does the job. But when you get a larger photo or item, like an 11x14 portrait, or a LIFE magazine where you want the whole page copied, this will do the job. The quality is superb; and I was hesitant at first, as I hadn't even heard of this brand before. But I am glad I bought the product; and for under $500 it is a great value. Jim Stock/Bismarck, ND

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OpticPro A320 Tabloid Flatbed Scanner Being a Graphite Artist that uses larger format paper to illustrate pieces, this scanner is perfect for me. I truly appreciate the fact that all weights of shadow and highlights are captured in the scans. I would have appreciated recieving a manual on how to use the different softwares that came with the scanner though. I would have saved a lot of time at initial setup time, if I could have read about the differences each software provides. But now that I have taken the time to bumble my way through the different formats, it has proven to be a good decision for enhancing my promotion of my business. Thank you again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product for the price I researched for a long time for a large format scanner and found the OpticPro A320 affordable for my needs. There are many large format scanners out there with triple price tags. I hesitated to purchase it because I have a particular brand I prefer, and I wasn't sure if the quality would be as good as the higher priced models from my usual brand. After reading many positive reviews of the OpticPro A320, I decided to take a chance. It was delivered quickly and purchasing the OpticPro A320 turned out to be an excellent decision. It was easy to set up. It is light for its size. It connected quickly and scans super fast. I'm using the OpticPro 320 scanner for 12 x 12 graphics and it does a beautiful job. Quality and resolution is very good. I am VERY HAPPY with this purchase. You can't go wrong if you are looking for great value and superior performance. I highly recommend the OpticPro A320.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Satisfactory large format scanner I was looking for a scanner that could scan tabloid size newspaper. This was the one I could afford and it does a satisfactory optical job. It is also the only Plustek scanner that offers a Mac OS driver. The interface is clunky and there is no documentation if you are a Mac user. It takes 26 seconds to scan a 10x14 page. My current project calls for scanning more than 1200 newspaper pages so faster wouldn't hurt but it's acceptable. The lid opens like a book and is on vertical pins, a nice feature for thick documents/books. I'm glad I found this for the money.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for artwork I purchased this scanner to reproduce my artwork, but cannot recommend it for that purpose. 1. It underexposes, clips highlights, and does not render colors accurately. However, if you're willing to work with a photo editor (Photoshop) to correct those problems, I suggest including a white card and/or neutral gray card in the scan for reference. 2. Plustek and specs on this page say that the optical resolution is 1600 dpi, but in truth it's only 600 dpi (at least with the current driver). Anything higher than that is interpolated via software.
