Sigma 477-306 Overview

  • 1Description

Specifically designed for digital SLR cameras equipped with APS-C size image sensors, the Sigma 10mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM Fisheye Lens is a lens that captures a rectangular 180° view in all directions. The diagonal field of view of this fisheye lens produces striking images with exaggerated perspective and distortion.

The minimum focusing distance of 5.3" (13.5 cm) and maximum magnification 1:3.3 allows subjects to be as close as 0.7" (1.8 cm) from the lens' front element. This close focusing capability allows close-up photography and also it is possible to make use of large depth of field that covers wide range of subjects. Even the most familiar and mundane of subjects can be portrayed with startlingly fresh new expressions through exaggerated perspectives and unusual distortion effects. Well suited for academic and technical measurements such as solid angle measurements, cloud cover measurements & virtual reality.

DC lenses are exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras. The image circle (rear of lens) is made to match the smaller dimensions used for the image sensor on digital cameras. As a result, these lenses are also more compact and lightweight, and are better matched to digital SLR cameras.

Note: Not compatible with 35mm film cameras or digital cameras using full-size image sensors (e.g. D3).

Fast, ultra-wideangle, rectangular image lens.
EX lens series denotes excellence of engineering and new technology.
The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) system ensures quiet and high-speed auto focusing with full time manual focus override.
The built-in lens hood blocks out extraneous light, and the Super Multi-Layer Coating minimizes flare and ghosting, creating superior image quality.
The lens is supplied with an insertion-type gelatin filter holder at the rear allowing the use gelatin filter.

10mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM Fisheye Lens for Nikon DX Digital Cameras is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Fisheye! I was hesitant at first to purchase this lens. But I am glad I finally ended up getting it!. It focuses very fast, and very quiet. Sigma did something right with the HSM (not like my other Sigma lens that hunts to focus and is pretty noisy). The images come out very sharp prior to any post-processing and colors seem very accurate. All in all, I love this lens. Worth every penny!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Non-OEM Fisheye I purchased this lens primarily so I can create 360 virtual tour online. A fisheye is the best lens to use with several stitch programs that make it seemless. For a non-Nikon lens (I use a Nikon), this lens is very good. The auto-focus can sometimes miss the mark but since it's 360 for me, I keep the auto-focus off and manually focus at f/22 anyway. Nice purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for those Unique Perspectives I love this lens for the powerful images it can produce with Architecture, Arenas, Landscapes, & even creative portrait shots. This is not intended to be an every day Go To Lens. This lens feeds your need for your artistic flavor. Definitely a keeper!! I only wish I had it sooner! I can think of shots I have taken and wished this lens was in my bag. Some will say this is a heavy lens, and yes it has a lot of heft. But it is necessary for this type of lens that has this much glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good buy What turned me to buy this Sigma lens was the fact that the AF works with my nikon D60 camera. I tried also the Nikon 10.5mm and it looked there was no big difference (even in the weight). I'm having a lot of fun photographing with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Let's get funky! :-) I just LOVE this lens! Took some of my very best and most interesting effects pictures with it! This lens helped me broaden my horizon as a photographer both figuratively and literally! I NEVER leave this lens at home when I go out for a shoot. And using it for video in some situations also creates spectecular clips. Sharp, fast and a ton of fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really fish(eye)y!!! This lens is perfect for shooting landscapes, horizon, star-trails or simply just about anything. The closest I have come to this lens is 3/4th of an inch and it produced tack sharp image of the focal point - my eye lid. Does a perfect job in Macro mode whilst producing an exaggerated perspective of the surroundings. Unlike some Sigma lenses that are known for suffering from softness at certain points, even prime lenses, this doesn't! A 180 degree coverage on Nikon and every corner is tack sharp! and f/2.8 makes it okay for low light if you have stable hands. HSM works good, works harder and faster. Harder in the sense it doesn't struggle but consistently tracks the subject. Instantaneous response. Lens cap is one of the best things I love about it - You can either have the shell on and take the cap off for ball effect or take the whole thing off for 180 degree coverage(Nikon mount). For what it's priced at, it's worth it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is good, nice fish eye lens. I was looking for a Nikon fish eye lens for my Nikon D5100. Nikon did not have a fish eye lens for a DX body with a built in focus motor (AF-S). I decided to try the Sigma. It is a good lens, but not quite as good as a Nikon or Canon L lenses when it comes to build quality (I shoot both Nikon and Canon). Image quality is very good, auto focus is fast and accurate, but a tad noisy, nothing to worry about. Takes gel filters mounted on rear mount. Looking for a good fish eye lens, I would not hesitate to buy this Sigma lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra fun lens I have been wanting a fisheye lens in my kit for some time. This lens is fun to use and is sharp as a tack. The only comment I have is it will not auto-focus on my Nikon d7000. Auto-focuses ultra quietly on my d200.
