These little extension arms work great. I have 2 and I use them at least once a week. After five months, I love them.

As usual for Manfrotto - well made and fit for purpose.

I got two of these so that I could attach them to two Manfrotto Super Clamps that are attached to a table top. I the. Used a Manfrotto background rod to connect to these in order to have a bar from which I could suspend a Bowens monolight since my studio space is too, small for a traditional light stand and boom setup. This works fantastic. Very rigid with plenty of height. More than my ceiling allows, in fact. Great product, as always from Manfrotto.

Combine the Adjustable Pole with a Super Clamp and you got a heavy duty stand for any peripheral at you studio desk or table.

Manfrotto... always a satisfying purchase.

Exactly as described. And because its Manfrotto, its always great quality. The extra in the price does indeed get you extra. I use this for backlights and as a makeshift boom arm on a Manfrotto nightstand with a Manfrotto 124 clamp - lighter things only.

Can this hold a 21" LED flapjack light (about 7-8lbs), say mounted as overhead/straight-down for table shooting? (via SuperClamp attached to table, then Avenger grip-head to angle this pole 45º, then LED light pointed down towards table) Also, same question, but for mounting a Sony A7iii camera/lens setup (about 1400gram or 3lbs setup) for overhead/straight-down shooting on table?(via SuperClamp attached to table, then Avenger grip-head to angle this pole 45º, then small ballhead, then camera/lens setup pointed down towards table)

The manufacturer does not give a load rating. I own one of these and would not put that much weight at an angle with it.

I have Impact LS-3S, and in 4 months, the rivet holding the 5/8" stud to the pole at the base is now loose. Mounting a light will cause it to lean to one side making the background light less round. Does the Manfrotto 122B use a rivet to secure the 5/8" studs to the pole?
Asked by: Victor
Manfrotto uses a pinch system while impact uses a reinforced rivet system. both intend to give out over time and under very heavy usage.

question

I'm looking at the Manfrotto 122B Adjustable Pole for Backlight Stand - 21 to 33.5 (53-85cm)Can you tell me more about the treading on the top end. Looks like 1/4 inch. Is that correct? Also the bottom end looks like a stud, if so, please tell me the size of the stud and the thread size of any threads on the bottom stud.Thank you,Ernie Winn

Sorry I don't know the sizes of threads but I do know this is a great stand -- it comes in handy so many times for not only a backlight but when photographing still life and need the light to be low.
