A versatile one-lens solution for many shooting situations, the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens is a Canon L-series zoom spanning a useful wide-angle to short-telephoto range and featuring a constant f/4 maximum aperture. Complementing the flexible design is an advanced optical layout that includes one Super UD element, which reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to realize a high degree of color accuracy and clarity. Three aspherical elements are also featured, and minimize distortion and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness. Additionally, a Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to control flare and ghosting for high contrast and neutral color fidelity.

Balancing the refined optics, this 24-105mm f/4 also sports a ring-type USM and internal focusing mechanism to enable quick, quiet, and accurate autofocus performance, as well as full-time manual focus override. A four-stop-effective Image Stabilizer is also used to minimize the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting. Additionally, this lens is weather-sealed and has a protective fluorine coating on the exposed elements for use in trying environmental conditions.

Standard zoom is designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 38.4-168mm equivalent focal length range.
Constant f/4 maximum aperture maintains consistent illumination throughout the zoom range.
One Super Ultra-Low Dispersion element reduces color fringing and chromatic aberrations for high clarity and color fidelity.
Three aspherical elements minimize spherical aberrations and distortions for improved sharpness and accurate rendering.
Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.
An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to four shutter speed stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.
A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM), along with an internal focusing design, optimized focusing algorithms, and a high-speed CPU, is employed to deliver fast, precise, and quiet autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override.
Rounded eight-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.
As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens is sealed against dust and moisture for working in inclement environmental conditions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go to lens If you are not getting great results with this lens; it ani't the camera or the lens. Sold my 24-70 2.8. I have owned this lens since 2006 and It went om my first Alaska trip (it's cool, I'm waiting for another). Tack sharp, light weight, good IS,great landscape and event lens. I wish Canon would would make a 2.8 version. They might canablize sales of the 24-70, however, even at a higher price I feel this combo would sell like crazy. If the hand of the almighty were to come down and say you can only keep one Canon lens; this is the one. Obviously I don't own a 500mmf4 (or better). If you don't own this lens, get one its worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lens I was torn between choosing this lens and the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L and I couldn't be happier with my choice. I'm shooting with the 50D and these two items are making the perfect marriage. No vignetting at any focal length with included lens hood attached. I've been using it for engagement shoots so far and wasn't really planning to use it at the actual weddings. But the performance has been so good, that I'll definitely be using it for the formal shots after the ceremony. The build quality is exactly what you'd expect from an L-series and the clarity is amazing. Get this lens, shoot in RAW, and take your photography to a new level.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great all rounder I really like this lens because of it's coverage... to go from wide angle to tele without reaching into my camera bag is a great advantage to have. It focuses quickly and is silent when in use. I love it's size as well. I wish it was a f2.8 but you can't have everything, but you do get a stabiliser which helps when you are at the 105mm end of the lens in very low light situations. I have shot a whole day with this lens without needing any other lens. I would recommend this over the 24-70mm f2.8 which I have as well but have focus issues with that lens and just find 70mm is not enough and always have to grab the 70-200. Great lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love, love, love this lens! I've had this lens for about five months now, and absolutely love it. It takes amazing pictures, with great color representation and contrast. At f/4 the background is a very pleasant blur. The build quality is great and it feels perfect on my T4i with battery grip. After purchasing my first body (T3i) with the EF-S 18-55 kit lens, I reluctantly refrained from buying a middle grade zoom such as the 18-200 or 28-135, knowing this was ultimately the lens I wanted. I am very glad I waited, it's worth every penny. Once you step up to an "L" lens you will not want to go back. I can't wait to use this in a full-frame body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best all around lens I have been using this lens well over a year now, for magazine work and journalism, and found that it almost never comes off of my 5d2. The slight wide angle distortion is a fair compromise for the zoom range and tack sharp images produced. It has survived probably over 30,000 images of use, and still works as if new. With the crop ability of 21mpx there is very little need to use my 70-200, therefore I can work much faster, which is critical when given only minutes to get the image. It is perfect for wide angle location shots to the short telephoto portrait image (90% of my journalism work)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My walk around lens This is my everyday walk around lens and is the one lens that is attached to my T2i most of the time. At first, I was not pleased with the sharpness. But once I learned to use this lens, I could not be happier. It is dependable and solidly built. Any bad pictures are my fault, not the lens. I find the range very useful, and yes, for me, it is wide enough on my crop body camera. Used correctly, it is tack sharp and delivers decent bokah. The IS works great, but this is not an indoor lens. Although it performs well at sunset, its one weakness is low light. This lens is a real work horse, well deserving of the red "L" stripe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Lens! After much hesitations I finally chose the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L over the EF 24-70 f/2.8L and the EF-S 15-85 to fit on my EOS 7D, and although it is not perfect, I have no regret to date. It is the lens which stays on my camera most of the time as it suits my needs very well as a General purpose Zoom. Mounted on an EOS 7D with a crop factor of 1.6x, the zoom range is equivalent to 38-168mm for a full frame camera. I sometimes miss a wider angle than 38mm, but then I just shift to my EF-S 10-22mm. The 24-105 is very well built, it is well balanced on the EOS 7D and it delivers sharp pictures with beautiful contrasts and colours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great all-around lens! This is my all around go to lens for my 7d. I own this and I also owned the famed 24-70 2.8 which I recently sold. I found myself going to this one over the 24-70 2.8 merely for it's reach to 105. I don't normally shoot in low light conditions so needing the 2.8 wasn't a requirement for me. Both lenses are great indeed and produce very sharp images. I had the luxury of putting them into a side by side comparison and there wasn't much difference in picture quality at all. Just maybe the 24-105 was a tad softer, but for me the IS and it's range to 105 as well as it's sharp images were enough to keep this one and sell the 24-70. Love it!
