Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro AF Lens for Canon EOS DSLR Cameras
Key Features
  • Zoom Telephoto
The Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro Lens is a telephoto zoom lens that has a large maximum aperture of f/2.8 which remains constant throughout the zoom range. It also offers an excellent "close-focusing-distance" minimum of just 3.1' (0.95 m) throughout its entire zoom range, with a maximum macro magnification ratio of 1:3.1 at f=200mm. When mounted on an APS-C sensor size digital SLR camera, it provides a focal length equivalent of 112-320mm.

Di (Digitally Integrated Design) is a designation Tamron puts on lenses featuring optical systems designed to meet the performance characteristics of digital SLR cameras. Features like LD glass elements and Internal Focusing put this lens in the same category as the much bigger and more expensive professional Tamron lenses.

Asked by: Kevin
Yes, the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro AF Lens for Canon's focus ring would rotate in the same direction as Canon EF-mount lenses; counter-clockwise for infinity focus, clockwise for minimum focus.

I see that there is no type of image stabilization for this lens. I photograph barrel racing and other equestrian events, at least half being indoors. How much of a difference will there be having no VC, or what lens would you recommend?
Asked by: Kaylee
If you are using a full frame camera you will need to keep the shutter speed above 1/200 to reduce the chance of getting blurry images due to camera shake when using this lens, that does not have image stabilization, handheld. Since to freeze action of fast action you would keep the shutter speed above 1/200 anyway, it might not be a problem for you to use this lens. The biggest problem would be this lens focus is slow, not great for fast action. You might want to look at this model that has a faster focus motor. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1317271-REG/tamron_afa025c_700_sp_70_200mm_f_2_8_di.html
