I see that there is no type of image stabilization for this lens. I photograph barrel racing and other equestrian events, at least half being indoors. How much of a difference will there be having no VC, or what lens would you recommend?
Asked by: Kaylee
If you are using a full frame camera you will need to keep the shutter speed above 1/200 to reduce the chance of getting blurry images due to camera shake when using this lens, that does not have image stabilization, handheld. Since to freeze action of fast action you would keep the shutter speed above 1/200 anyway, it might not be a problem for you to use this lens. The biggest problem would be this lens focus is slow, not great for fast action. You might want to look at this model that has a faster focus motor. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1317271-REG/tamron_afa025c_700_sp_70_200mm_f_2_8_di.html

I'm sorry, no, this is for an Alpha mount and not an E mount. You can get a lens adapter to convert it from Alpha to E mount. Click on the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/32iem34

Asked by: Romankar
No, the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro AF Lens for Nikon AF, B&H # TA7020028MN, is not designed for use with the Sony Alpha a6400 Mirrorless Digital Camera. If you are interested in the above lens, while Tamron does not manufacture this lens for the Sony E-mount lens mount, I would instead recommend purchasing the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro AF Lens for Canon EOS DSLR Cameras, B&H # TA7020028MC, along with a lens mount adapter such as either the Metabones Canon EF/EF-S Lens to Sony E Mount T Smart Adapter (Fifth Generation), B&H # MEMBEFEBT5, or the Vello Canon EF/EF-S Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera Auto Lens Adapter, B&H # VELAESECEF. The above adapters will retain the ability to autofocus the lens as well as use automatic exposure and to control the aperture from the camera body. It should also transfer EXIF data from the lens to the camera.

question

Is this compatible with the Nikon D3100?
Asked by: Anonymous
This lens offers a built in motor, therefore it is compatible with Nikon DSLRs which lack the appropriate autofocus motor such as the D3100. Both full autofocus and full aperture adjustment would be available.

question

Does this lense shoot well in low light?
Asked by: Ventura L.
At F/2.8 this is as fast as a lens will get with a 70-200mm focal length. From there it will depend on the capabilities of the camera used with the lens that determine how well it performs in low light.
