7x26 Elite Compact Binocular is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not excellent I've bought these mostly for travel. Pros: Contrast is very high and feels natural without exaggeration of small details or anything like that. Chromatic aberrations are moderate. I could not notice any problems with resolution. No wonder Bushnell boasts about these binoculars being one of the best for birding. Ergonomics are good, focusing is comfortable, exit pupil is large enough and eyeglasses are no problem. Cons: There is no field flattener and field curvature is significant - about the same as in Nikon 8x42 Monarch ATB. Well, some people may even like this. As expected these is no water resistance because focusing is performed by moving objectives back and forth. I expected the binoculars to be less bulky - they are not pocketable at all. The included case can probably be attached safely to a strap (never tried) but its shoulder strap is too weak and rings are made of plastic. The case is significantly larger than needed. Eyepiece caps cannot be attached to a strap and there are no objective caps.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Legendary Quality Still Available I was looking for a compact pair of binoculars for casual birding and general use and remembered reading good reviews for the Busnell 7x26 Custom from years ago. After some internet searching I was pleased to see that they were still in production as the Bushnell 7x26 Elite Custom compact binoculars. After a comparison of specs and reviews for other compact poro prism and roof prism options I concluded that I couldn't do better at their price point. The biggest strike against these binoculars is the fact that they are not water proof, for which I dropped one star. This is not a problem for me since I will not be using them on the water and the included case or my day pack will provide enough protection in rainy conditions. I am otherwise very pleased with these binoculars. They are small enough to fit in a field jacket pocket but large enough for full hand use (see pictures). The optics are very sharp and high contrast. My pair are spot on the specified 7' minimum focus distance and with eyecups retracted provide a full view while wearing my glasses. I like the poro prism image, which to my eyes provides a more 3D effect than roof prism binoculars I've tried. They are light enough to wear around the neck for hours but have a solid, well constructed feel. Included are a form fitted case with it's own strap and a belt loop on the back. There is also a comfortable, wider (1 3/8 inch) strap for the binoculars themselves. There are covers for the two ocular lenses but none for the objective lenses. One point of confusion from other reviews I read is whether Bushnell had moved the manufacture of these binoculars from Japan to China. I can report that the ones I received have a label stating Made in Japan (see pictures). Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase and look forward to many years of use. I shopped the internet and found the best price for these binoculars on the B&H site.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Compact I purchased the first version of this binocular for my late wife in the spring of 1971. The older version of this model was available in both 6x and 7x, and had a gutta-percha finish rather than the current non-slip finish. This reverse Porro-prism design is still my favorite of all the compacts I have tried, including a beautiful Swarovski. This is the fourth copy of this model I have purchased, and was a special gift for a friend. The exit pupils are large enough to keep the view from blacking out, and the eye-relief is great enough for comfortable viewing with my no-line bifocals. The rendering of images is bright and sharp, and seems to give more of a three-dimensional sensation than my favorite compact roof-prism binocular. This seems to be the binocular most favored when I take my female friends and relatives hiking or biking. It is comfortable for small hands, yet it is substantial enough in size and weight for most men with large hands like mine. I often carry this optic as my first choice when I am lugging camera gear in the field. If this optic was again offered in 6x, I would buy it! The only improvements I would make to this model would be to make it immersion proof, and to reduce the minimum focusing distance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Travel with Excellence Great to keep in the glove compartment. Easy to carry into to sports or musical events. Good as a spare for a friend. Could be lighter like its predessor ( Bauch& Lomb 7x26 ). Close focus could be 6.5 feet or less.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Astonishing resolution and brightness I've looked through several compacts and small mid-sized binoculars, and these give the absolute best image -- almost Swarovskian. Focusing is smooth, eye relief good for many eyeglasses wearers, but not all. Very light, but they hang at a bit of a funny angle off the neckstrap, and can bump you in the chest. But the optics are almost ridiculous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesine Binocs I have a pair of Nikon Monarch 7 and a Vortex 8x28 both of which are more expensive. These easily hold their own and have a nice bright picture. Couldn't be more pleased. Perfect size for my wife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product This is a good pair of binoculars, which will fit in a compact place, for the price (will even fit in some pockets). And the quality seems very reasonable. With its small size, the magnification is nothing special (7X); but, that is compensated by its ability to work in lower light (you'd need to move up in price and size to see in close to darkness & to increase magnification). I have no complaints with this pair.
