These super clamps are very useful. Available from different brands but I went for this Manfrotto because I have found their products are very reliable in quality. These things are great and very versatile. Like Legos, you can't have too many.

Works as described. Was delivered without the stud, but I reached B&H and they resolved the issue, shipping me the stud separately for free.

Hapilly, I wrote to B&H on the day I received the clamp and they told me they would dispatch the stud as soon as possible. When I get my stud, I will update the review if I can.

I could set the grip tight enough to stop the clamp from slipping on a vertical aluminum post.

It does what it supposed to do and works like the other 6 I have in my studio. Sturdy and easy to clamp down.

Can it securely attach to a 2x6 beam?
Asked by: Kevin
If the jaws open wide enough, it may be able to attach it. How securely is another thing. Maybe if you hang something light. I use mine on auto poles which are round & clamp attaches securely enough to hang a flash head. Best of luck.

This evidently is not a true ratchet like a socket wrench ratchet. But does it have the ability to have the handle pulled out, re-positioned, and then back in to a tightening mode?
Asked by: John
no you will need enough clearance for the handle to turn about a 6in circle.

question

Is this the correct stud to attach a standard tripod head (such as the 494RC2)? If not what stud should I order please?
Asked by: Anonymous
The stud included with this Super Clamp would not have the correct screw thread to fit a 494 RC2. What is best to use is the Manfrotto 208HEX Head Mounting Plate with Hex Stud - 3/8 Thread B&H # MA208HEX which connects into the hex slot on the Super Clamp and has a tripod base plate on top with a 3/8 thread for attaching a head like the 494RC2. Please see the image below for reference.

question

is the main handle on this made out of metal or plastic, along with the interior threads? I've had versions that were plastic and the threads strip out rendering the clamp useless.
Asked by: Paul
The handle is plastic. Hardened plastic, the interior threads are not plastic.

Hi, do the letters RL mean that the clamp has a ratchet handle?
Asked by: Alexei
Manfrotto has 4 versions of the Super Clamp with the Ratchet handle. The only differences are if the stud is included or not, & what particular stud. This 035RL Super Clamp includes a Standard Stud.

does this fit with 442RC friction arm?
Asked by: Scott
The super clamp is a B&H "recommended accessory" for the friction arm. The friction arm has a piece that looks like it fits into the super clamp. The super clamp is meant to fit with about 20 or 30 items.

If this clamp's stud was oriented horizontally, parallel to a table top, could the 1/4-20 threaded end support 5-10 lbs. without it snapping off? If not, is there a stud that is made of steel that would be compatible?
Asked by: Kaegen
I use this clamp with the Manfrotto 2-Section Single Articulated Arm with Camera Bracket BH #MA196B2 MFR #196B-2 - I break down the connector where the two tubes connect so I can use this with only one tube - this will support my Canon 6D mkII, Battery Grip and a 24-70 lens with no issues.
