I've been on the fence with purchasing a salon/tower camera stand. This super clamp, when paired with my manofrotto monopod, gives me an opportunity to work on overhead shots in a similar manner with a nano-fraction of the cost. I think my only comment to prospective buyers is that the screw attachment seems to slip a little--not much, but enough that I continually recheck for sturdiness and movement. Again, minor issue that does not affect my product work!

I bought it without really needing it. But the virsatility has made it a great addition to my kit. Very robustly built too. If you need one, get one. If you don't you will!

These super clamps are very useful. Available from different brands but I went for this Manfrotto because I have found their products are very reliable in quality. These things are great and very versatile. Like Legos, you can't have too many.

I bought the Super Clamp to use with a copy stand for DSLR scanning. It does that very well, but it also makes a great table clamp, light stand clamp, tree branch clamp, and a host of other things!

Fit and finish is a bit rough, but expected in this price range. Always find myself wishing there was a way to have fine-control of the rotation values on the stud, but that's just a design idea for a different product. Haven't had any problems with adjustments or slippage.

Very similar products. I like Manfrotto as a company because they seam to be very meticulous with their products in general. The lever gives you great power and they do ship their 035 model with the stud. Does the Avenger model come with a stud? I did not get the impression I would have as much clamping power with the rounded knob from Avanger. I hope this helps you in making a decision Good luck

What diameter are the screw holes on the bottom ? Are they all the same diameter ?

There are five holes arranged in a quincunx. I find the central hole is UNC 1/4" 20. One pair of opposite holes appear to be M5. The other pair seem unthreaded. Perhaps alignment holes for an unknown accessory? I would like to find proper specs for these holes.

If this clamp would fit for your application depends on whether the stand is within the jaw size of the clamp and whether the speaker has the proper attachments to the clamp.

Can this clamp be used on a Manfrotto carbon fiber medium boom extension to clamp around the boom so as to provide a microphone mounting surface on the boom?

It will clamp to any pole or column under 1.75". Just be careful not to crush the carbon fiber as these clamps to have a good amount of clamping force.

If the jaws open wide enough, it may be able to attach it. How securely is another thing. Maybe if you hang something light. I use mine on auto poles which are round & clamp attaches securely enough to hang a flash head. Best of luck.
