The Tiffen 77mm 81C Light Balancing Filter helps to decrease the color temperature by 400K in order to warm the image slightly in order to match the color quality of illumination. When using an 81C filter, you will be able to attain 3200K balance when the prevailing light source is 3600K. The warming effect of this filter requires a 0.3-stop increase in exposure for normal results.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Light balancing filter decreases color temperature and provides a warming effect.
Subtracts 400K in order to attain 3200K color balance from 3600K illumination.
Filter factor of 1.3 requires a 0.3-stop increase in exposure.

77mm 81C Light Balancing Filter is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good filter, bad storage The filter arrived perfectly in time, however the filter had been stored inside a thin styrofoam bag inside the filter box. Unfortunately due to heat or long term storage, the plastic melted/docomposed while in storage. The end result is that the filter now has a light image on the glass of the storage bag. This cannot be removed either, as it appears to have effected the actual glass. The problem was not easily noticed until shooting. The product will have to be returned.
