The optical design incorporates one Special Low Dispersion element, which helps to control chromatic aberrations and color fringing for high clarity and color accuracy. A multi-layer coating is also used to reduce ghosting and flare for improved contrast when working in bright and backlit conditions. Additionally, a nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Telephoto zoom is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, however it is also suitable for DX models where it will provide a 105-450mm equivalent focal length range.
Ideal for macro shooting, this lens offers a dedicated Macro position for a half of life-size 1:2 maximum magnification along with a minimum focusing distance of 3.1' to suit working with close-up subjects.
One Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element is used to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for increased clarity and color fidelity.
Multi-layer coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions.
