    Manfrotto 165 reviews

    165 On-Ground Tripod Spreader is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Required Equipment for Video We shoot video with a large Bogen tripod. This spreader is an absolute must have because it stabalizes the legs and unifies the whole assembly. Easy to set up, take down and use, it does exactly what it should do. For the price, don't even think about not using one, just get it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great spreader Great and cheap. Worth the money. Only get this spreader if your sticks have pointy tips, as it will not fit correctly otherwise.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Spreader All though this is plastic it is much stronger and flexible then the Manfrotto aluminum spreader that many of Manfrotto tripods come with. Would buy again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Initial impressions are good, some more info Bottom line up front: I like this spreader and it will get the job done for me. All plastic construction drops it a star, but I feel that it's a good balance of solid and lightweight. I ordered this spreader to pair with my Manfrotto 536 tripod to use while filming various events such as dance recitals, cheer competitions, sports, etc. I was hoping that it would add a little more stability to a great tripod when it is fully extended (80+ inches!) Let me talk about a few of the specs of the product that I found slightly different than those listed. I measured and these are the numbers that I got, roughly. From the center: The minimum extension is 15 inches. The maximum extension of each of arms is 25 inches. I was confused by the description that said the maximum leg spread is 51 inches, I only measured 44 inches from the end of one arm to the other. This is the proper spreader for non-spiked or retractable spiked feet like those on the 535 or 536 tripods. The ends of each arm feature a cup that foot of the tripods sits in and a heavy rubber strapthat secures it in place. I've attached pictures showing this closer. The bottom of each foot features a rubber pad. When my four section Manfrotto 536 is fully extended the spreader holds the legs in place well and maintains a good angle. I measured the height to the top of the bowl at 85 inches! However, the legs don't contact the adjustable stops at the top and rely on the spreader to maintain their angle. But this is what spreaders are for. I can pull the center ring up and collapse the legs. It's not the smoothest spreader, but it works without being too clumsy. I'm knocking it down one star because of construction. It's all plastic. It seems sturdy enough for my needs. I'm sure this cuts down on weight and cost. I'll see how it holds up for the long term, but I would buy it again.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works pretty well This works pretty well on my 546 series tripod. The mid-level spreader is totally unusable on the 546 tripod, so this is your only real choice. It's not bad, not expensive, I can live with it. Can't expect much more for the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it is suppose to do We have a small Manfrotto tripod system and the spreader is a little bit too big for it. But it gets the job done
