    Manfrotto 359 reviews

359 Long Lens Support is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better Than a Burzynski The Manfrotto 359 Long lens Support is a must for those who use a tripod with a heavy dslr and have a long heavy telephoto lenses attached plus any other equipment you want, like flash. Just rock stable. Incredibly you can move the camera and lens around as if it were not attached, that is how smooth it moves. Macro shooters, get this bad boy.You could buy a Burzynski long lens support for $237.44 as of today's exchange rate or the Manfrotto for $50 bucks. One thing is for sure it does the job it is designed for and that is: Your camera doesn't hang off the back of the tripod when a lens is attached to the head looking like a fish out of water!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super stable support I bought this device to help when I used some older but still good lenses without image stabilization. It proved to be very effective in eliminating the subtle movements that make an image seem soft without apparent movement. It was like a complete upgrade to my lens collection, especially the long ones. I saw sharpness I did not know was there. The set up can be a trifle fussy but very much worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stability Is the Point Manfrotto's 359 long lens brace allows maximum resolution and lets the potential of a lens become clear. With long telephotos camera shake, even with the mirror up and a cable release, degrades performance; the 359 brace helps alleviate the problem. A good while back Herbert Keppler at Modern Photography ran a series of tests with a Slik tele brace, the 359 Manfrotto, and a sponge. His test results showed a clear increase in resolution and contrast with the Slik, maybe 30%, and close to twice that with the Manfrotto attachment. The sponge, he said, showed what happened when you shot with a sponge. Used with a sturdy tripod, all locking knobs tight, the 359 long lens support maximizes the potential of a lens; its drawbacks? Not for moving objects, but for slow, precise, view-camera-like work. And effects.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stops the Blurs! Going out past 1000mm one discovers harmonics. The slap of exposure all 30 of the length your rig start to vibrate. Regardles of the Gimbal. Or Legs. And this jewels stops it. So, when you are in to Big Glass you need one of these. Quick and easy to hook up, works, easy to take off. Cheap. The only thing bad about it -- I did not learn of it sooner.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Manfrotto 359 Long Arm Support In theory this a great idea to add additional support and decrease shake with a single point tripod mounted 500mm long telephoto with a heavy duty tripod. In practice, it did not offer significant stability in decreasing the inherent shake with long lenses. Additionally, when using such a system, one is typically limited to a single view. Panning or movement is not easily or quickly accomplished.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Long lens support I've used this support with a 1300mm manual lens with no auto focus or vibration reduction and it did reduce blur in the picture. I found the part that clamps onto the tripod somewhat difficult to operate. It takes a while to set up and get used to the tightening and unloosing involved when trying to move the lens up or down or sideways. Sometimes it's easier to just pick up the whole tripod and turn it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Support for Long Lenses I use the product with 300mm, 400mm, 500mm, and 800mm lenses. What's great about it is that it's easy to set up and easily allows movement of the lens on the tripod until you're ready to fire - then you tighten the controls and fire! It would be nice if it came with a protective case...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works great with my 400mm non-IS lens It sets up easy and provides a shake free platform that allows me to take pictures in low light with my long lens. It pans easily when attached to the camera allowing me to frame the shot without problem.
