Kirk BL-D300G overview

  • 1Description

The Kirk BL-D300G Compact L-Bracket is an ultra-compact and lightweight L-bracket that is custom designed to snugly fit a Nikon D300 or D700 with MB-D10 camera combination. Machined from one single piece of 6061T6 industrial strength aluminum, it provides full access to all switches, sockets, and the battery drawer. This design allows you to release, turn, and remount your camera in mere seconds, when switching from horizontal to vertical orientation and back. It is especially ideal for use with shorter macro, wide-angle, and tilt-shift lenses.

For use with quick release systems that use the Arca Swiss type clamp.

    Kirk BL-D300G reviews

    BL-D300G Compact L-Bracket for Nikon D300 or D700 with MB-D10 Camera is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive, but first class Yes this is a very expensive piece of kit. However the manufacture is of the highest quality and the bracket really makes a difference if you are shooting an SLR from a tripod, you can shift from horizontal to vertical format in seconds. The bracket fits my D300 very well, although it does make the camera bulkier and a little heavier, after using the camera hand held on several occasions I have gotten quite used to the extra bulk and find the camera handles fine with it attached. It is very quick to mount on my Arca Swiss head. I am pleased with my purchase, recommended

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent on D700, but . . . . . . but not for everyone and not, necessarily, for every day. I started using an L-Bracket with my D200 and found that I was missing not having one on the D700. Can't beat it, when you're using a tripod and moving back and forth from landscape to portrait position. If you're going to purchase the MB-D10 for your D700, then the L-Bracket might be the next logical step. Downside: expensive and now you have an even heavier camera, so you need to think about how you feel about holding / carrying that heavier camera and if your tripod and head can handle the weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well Designed I use this with an Induro ballhead and arca swiss style clamp on my D-300s with Nikon MB-D10 battery grip. It fits the product perfectly and does not obstruct any of the ports or the ability to change batteries. It allows easy change from landscape to portrait orientation. and feels very secure once attached. it would be perfect if the dovetail was just a hair wider. I find that I have to be careful to make sure that the jaws of the clamp are just a little touchy when placed in the dovetail and that I must be very careful to make sure that they are fully engaged. If they are fully engaged it works perfectly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great L-Bracket If you use a tripod frequently, get an L-bracket. It allows you to mount the camera to the tripod head in either a landscape or portrait position. The Kirk L-bracket for my Nikon D300 plus MB-D10 fits perfectly and locks the camera on the tripod. It's form fitting enough to allow handheld use of the camera with the L-bracket still attached, although it will increase the weight. You can also remove the MB-D10 battery while the Kirk L-bracket is attached. The build quality is excellent.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid but not 4 Really Right Stuff Clamp This is a solid product. It looked like it would fit...Really Right Stuff quick release clamps as they are both Arca-Swiss style brackets. Unfortunately it did not work for my needsit was too large to lock down the lever. If you have a Kirk clamp (and perhaps other arca-swiss clamps), I'm sure this as good as it gets. If you have RRS parts, stick with RRS quick release plates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Just purchased the mb-10 and the bl-d300g for my Nikon D700. Works like a charm. If you've invested in a good tripod and shoot in vertical you owe it to yourself to invest in this bracket. It's very quick and easy to adjust camera from vertical to horizontal without having to worry about the camera being off center on tripod. I also own the D200 with the Kirk L bracket and that is also a great investment for tripod shooting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every cent ! I recently purchased a carbon fiber tripod & ball head for use outside my studio. I soon realized the problems with turning the camera w/lens on it's side had balance problems as well as throwing the center of focus off center. This brace is wonderful. A bit steep in price but it's value in quality as well as usefulness far out weigh it's cost. I now use this brace in the studio on my camera stand as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nicely designed product This is one of the reasons I bought a D700 and D300 with an MB-D10 - interchangeability. The bracket attaches easily and fits very well. Nice and snug. It fits well into the QR bracket on my Markins M10. Very very sturdy combination.
