AKG K 141 MK II reviews

K 141 MK II Professional Semi-Open Supraaural Stereo Headphones is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I Love these headphones I was trying to decide what headphones to get for months and finally decided on this pair. They are much better than I even imagined. I am a newbie at mixing, but as far as I can tell, these seem to give an acurate sound. The velvet pads are really soft and comfortable. If you are looking for on ear headphones, these are excellent and economical. The detatchable cable is also a plus, since that is what I ruined first on my last pair of headphones.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from But the ear pads disintegrate from use These are terrific headphones. I've owned K141 Studio Headphones (the previous model) for several years ago and sought them out after my older brother had purchased a pair way back in the 80's. The downside, unfortunately, is that the ear pads disintegrate after a while (more quickly the more you use them). The outer layer basically just breaks down and peels off in flakes. I've already replaced the pads once and now I'm searching for a replacement again. @ (in Germany) sells velour replacements but to get them to the U.S. ends up around $. Half the price of a new pair of headphones. So be forewarned. I'm sure other AKG models suffer from the same problem but ear pads may be more readily available for them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality and it shows. Clear sound. I was anticipating that much when i was ordering this. Sound quality is great. You are getting this if you want clear sound with highs and mids and bass that is clear and strong while not being thumping (ie not covering the rest and sounding muddy). If someone wants a heavy thumping bass that can harm ears then no. This one is about clarity and unpolluted sound. And because its 55 ohms it can be used on a PC or on a portable mp3 player with no issues. (Using it on my tiny Creative player with the volume set at medium). Also comes with two different cords and two different sets of ear pads. About the fitting...its supra aura design meaning that it doesn't cover the ears but instead presses on them. So after a couple of hours of non stop listening you might feel tired, but you get used to it after a couple of days and their elastic bands will open up. The first day were a bit bothersome, but later on i found exactly where to place them. Another thing that might bother some is that it doesn't have an inline volume controller but that isn't something bad as volume is easily controlled even on a PC as most keyboards have volume controls on them, or just use the volume meter from the OS or get a controller as an accessory. Fantastic sound... Haven't regretted getting them. 4/5 only because of the combined negative of no inline volume control and potential ear strain.
