Through the use of 'Intelligent Video Analytics' this camera has the ability to detect unusual conditions based on a range of visuals including an object's motion or lack of motion, or if a virtual borderline is crossed. Intelligent Motion Detection (IMD)
Built into the camera is a sophisticated motion detection function that can be used to trigger recording, image transfer or the start-up of an external device. Complex algorithms are employed to minimize the occurrence of false alarms. When used with Sony or third party DEPA enabled recorders or software, motion detection parameters can be fine tuned to include filters such as an object's size and degree of motion.
Intelligent Object Detection (IOD)
Object detection can be seen as a function that is opposite of motion detection. Instead of noticing objects that are moving, object detection is able to pick out something that isn't moving when everything around it is. This is a highly useful feature for detecting abandoned cars left in a parking lot or cars that are stalled or involved in an accident. It can also be used in public transportation hubs to detect suspicious bags or persons who haven't moved in a while. As with motion detection, object detection parameters can be fine tuned when used with Sony or third party DEPA enabled recorders or software.

Multiple Compression Options
Operators can choose to capture images using either the MPEG-4, M-JPEG or H.264 compression formats. With its high quality and low compression, M-JPEG is best suited for live viewing while MPEG-4, having a higher compression, is the preferred method for network transmission where speed is paramount. H.264 is twice as efficient as MPEG-4 and is therefore ideal for applications with limited amounts of bandwidth. For greater versatility, users can set the camera to capture simultaneously in the MPEG-4 and M-JPEG formats.
Wireless Card Option
A built-in PC card slot allows the use of a wireless LAN card to transmit data from the camera to the router wirelessly, greatly simplifying the installation process. An optional Sony SNCA-AN1 external antenna can be used to boost its wireless range.
Audio files can be uploaded into the camera's Voice Alert system for playback upon an alarm event or at a specified time.
