Pelican 1620 reviews

1620NF Case without Foam (Olive Drab) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from You Can't Go Wrong With a Pelican Pelican cases offer a durability and functionality that is unmatched. They are perfectly suited for protecting your valuable equipment and you can expect them to outlast the equipment they are charged with protecting. We are using this particular case as an enclosure for a portable WiFi bridge that will be part of a long-range telemetry system. As an enclosure it will protect the gear housed in it while simultaneously functioning as protection during travel. We protect all of our valuable gear with Pelican Cases and highly recommend them. I actually use one as a suitcase because I've seen how luggage is handled at airports!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Battleship Case I bought one of these several months ago for my son-in-law who was going to the mid-east on a 1 year military deployment. He was looking for a modern foot locker to keep his gear secure. The 1620 was the biggest case that would fit within the air courier size & weight limitations and had an adequate seal to keep the sand & dust out. We went with desert tan because the black cases get too hot in the sun. The case worked as advertised - despite lots of rough handling, the case made it through the deployment. After cleaning, it looked great and every moving part worked just as well as the day it left. A nice feature was the metal reinforced padlock opening and easy open latches (I often cursed the finger mangling first generation peli latches.) The newer wheelie pallet setup is a great step up from earlier Peli designs (in fact, our soldier used the case as a cart to haul all his other deployment bags around.) On the deployment, the case became a seat, table and multipurpose piece of furniture. The only downside on this case is the weight. Without foam it is 21+ lbs, and on the deployment soldiers were limited to a 50 pound maximum, so the case itself is nearly half of the max. For us, it was worth the weight to have a deployable strong box. I have since bought a second case for my own use to keep my photo gear safe. Since I usually drive my gear around, the weight is not an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really hard Well, it's a pelican case, everything that is inside of this will be protected. But it's too heavy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Grate case ! Bought it together with a Porta Brace divider kit. A bit heavy - but I bought it to store all my kit. And to have everything availible in the trunk of the car when driving on trips whithout too many loose items hanging around. The Porta Brace divider kit it more adjustable than Pelicans, all small items is packed in bags, pillow to wrap around camera/lens and trow in the case. Laptop in lid.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Case to have to wheel around. We use this product to store and carry our safety equipment in. It has enough room in it to carry most of our gear in. The only complaint I may have it is heavy and we have to meet certain weight limits for the airlines. So with the case alone weights half of our limit and once we fill it with our equipment we are over the limit so it is fustrating for us with the weight of the case.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Schneider Electric Pelican Case We use the product for storage and shipping of our Personal Proctective Equipment. We like this case because it is big enough to hold all of our equipment and protects our equipment from damage. The only thing we don't like about it is that it weighs too much and it cost us more to check it in the airlines.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Heavy, but strong I'm actually an engineer using this to carry electrical equipment. I appreciate the strength, but it really cuts into airline weight limits. Overall, though, it seems extremely durable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great case This case performed great on its first air travel. The downside is that it holds enough tools to incur heavy excess bag fees. Great pricing, speedy delivery, and easy web ordering
