AV Toolbox AVT-6071 overview

  • 1Description

The AVT-6071 HDMI Multi-Format Switcher from AV Toolbox is a routing switcher that accepts (3) HDMI source signals and a variety of analog video signals and selectively routes them to (1) HDMI output display. The device up-converts the analog signals to HDMI to ensure compatibility with your display. Use this convenient unit to switch between HDMI and analog-video source devices without the need to repeatedly connect and disconnect components.

The switcher can be controlled via its front-panel buttons, RS-232 connectivity, or the included IR remote control. This unit will support HDTV resolutions up to 1080p and PC resolutions up to SXGA. This device is also HDCP-compliant (high-bandwidth digital-content protection). Video devices without this compliance often do not have a mechanism to decode HDCP and will relegate HDCP-protected content to snow or an inferior lower-resolution picture.

    AV Toolbox AVT-6071 reviews

    AVT-6071 HDMI Multi-Format Switcher is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Switcher but... This Switcher is a great idea since it will up-convert many different inputs into one HDMI output. I bought it to use at my church. The problem I am having is that it takes too long to switch between devices. During a service I need to switch from a live camera to a PC and sometimes to a DVD player but it takes about 6 or 7 seconds for the device to find the input once I press the button and that is just too much lag time during a live event. I will have to spend well over $1000 and buy a Seamless Switcher to accomplish what I need. For home use or if the amount of time it takes to switch from one input to another doesn't matter than this switcher is a great buy for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This one works I have several devices that have s-video outputs. I needed to hook them up to a tv with HDMI inputs and no s-video inputs. I had purchased a more expensive unit from another vendor that did not work. This one does exactly what it is supposed to do. I can now watch laser discs and tapes on the tv. I can turn it on remotely and switch inputs remotely. The only downside is that s-video and composite video share audio inputs so I can't hook up my beta without using an audio switch. It also includes rack mount brackets. Unfortunately the screws that attach it to the unit are too short and seem to be an odd thread. I just retapped it for 8/32 and replaced the screws with slightly longer ones.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The right connections but latency issues The only reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the time it takes swithing from one input to another. There is a message indicating no input and a black screen for approximately 5 seconds. This is not good for live video production. If the latency can be fixed, I would purchase this item again and take it on the road for live production.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid little unit From what I have used so far, this is a nice little unit for switching multiple AV sources. I have it connected to a small portable sound system and a ceiling mounted projector, so I did have to use a HDMI Audio Extractor between this unit and the projector to get audio to the mixer. I am currently using all three HDMI bypass ports and the VGA, so I cannot speak to the Component or Composite functionality. With the quality of the VGA conversion, I would expect these to be just as good. As others have noted, this does not provide a seamless switch between sources, but our intended use does not require this feature. The unit is a bit heavier that I expected, based on its size, which I would assume is a result of the solid build. This ain't no cheap piece of gear. It also comes with the hardware to rack mount if that is a need.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good rugged product I needed to connect an older DVD player and Apple TV, and didn't want multi cables to the TV. This combines the inputs and sends through one HDMI, perfect for my use. Also, allows additional inputs for future expansion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product This is a great switch and met most of my needs. I have a DVI only TV and would have liked to see the switched audio available on external connector. This does a great job of upconverting S-Video, Composite and analog.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what we wanted and then some. This unit provided more than we asked for. We wanted and needed a device that would take a variety of inputs and transmit them over one single HDMI cable. This unit does just that. IT also has a handy remote control to simplify switching input sources. HUGE PLUS and a big Convenience this provides. After purchasing one unit we purchased another for a different project to replace equipment we had already purchased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic Product! This product is worth the money. I use it switch between a VCR, DVD, and cable box with surround system. It works perfect. The only issue I find is that when switching between sources, it takes a few moments to load; so be patient.
