Sony MDR-222KD overview

  • 1Description

The MDR-222KD stereo headphones from Sony are specifically designed for children aged eight and up. Most standard headphones are too large to fit children comfortably, and produce volume levels that are potentially dangerous for children. These headphones are small, lightweight, and produce a lower volume than standard headphones.

For wearing comfort, the headphones have an adjustable headband and foam earpads. The single-sided cable helps to reduce snags and tangles, and the standard 3.5mm stereo plug is compatible with MP3 players, CD players, and other consumer electronics devices.

Appropriate size and weight for children around age eight
Lower volume level than standard headphones

    Sony MDR-222KD reviews

MDR-222KD Children's Stereo Headphones (Pink) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not loud enough I know you need to be careful with headphones for kids. We bought these to go with a DVD player for our trip to Alaska. Unfortunately, the 10dp lower sound made them so quiet that the kids had a hard time hearing the movies on the airplane. I had to take out my earbuds and let them use those being careful not to let them turn it up too loud. We ended up buying another pair of cheap headphones during a layover so they could hear their movies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great headphones! Fit Mom and Dad too. We bought a pair of these seven or so years back for our kids to use. All these many years later, they work as well as they ever did, and it's not for lack of hard use. The only issue with the MDR-222KDs is that the foam is deteriorating. there's no denying these are very tough. Another pleasant surprise with these is the sound, which punches well above it's weight. Very smooth, not at all tinny. Freq. response seems very flat to my ear; which means probably not enough bass for the hiphop crowd. And the final pleasant surprise with these headphones is that they fit mom and dad just fine. When circumstances dictate, we're more than happy to use them. We've never had issues with the neadphones not playing loud enough. The fact that they are attenuated gives me some reassurance that the kids aren't blasting their hearing with them. OK, so the final endorsement is that I assumed they were nolonger made, and when I saw today that they are still available, I bought two new pairs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have lasted the abuse of a child... I bought my oldest daughter a pair of these when she entered Kindergarten as they needed their own pair for computer lab. She is now going into 3rd grade and these have been thrown in the closet, under the bed, stepped on, etc., and the cord used to tie up things during her playing and still work and function properly with little sign of the abuse they have gone through. Buying another pair for my 4 yr old.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from our first buy Wanted to buy a headphone for my 4 yr old to help manage long flight journeys.the main reason i bought this is because they are designed for kids and their gentle ears. he finds it comfortable and wears it for quiet sometime. Sound levels are good and i think we have a good buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good enough for the money. These headphones work well enough for something made specifically for kids. Perhaps it's best you can get for the price. I'm not sure how long those will hold though as they doesn't look very solid.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Headphones for kids.. I work with youth in a music studio/class room, these come in handy when you don't want to think about 1. Damaging hearing. 2. Ruining your good eqipment. 3. And Leaving a Tangled mess.
