Pelican iM2500 overview

  • 1Description

The Pelican iM2500 Storm Trak Case with Foam (Yellow) is an injection-molded case made of HPX high performance resin, that is virtually unbreakable, dent-resistant and shatter-resistant. It is tough, rugged, lightweight, airtight and watertight. There is a permanently attached Vortex valve that automatically adjusts air pressure without letting in water, and won't unscrew from the case. Press & Pull latches open with the push of a button, yet stay closed securely under impact or stress. The case has unbreakable molded-in hasps that allow the addition of standard size padlocks. It has hinges with integrated feet that hold fast under impact, and create a flat surface for upright stability. It is carried by a double-layered, soft-grip, solid-core handle, lightweight retractable, telescoping handle and rugged in-line wheels.

This case has a multilayer cubed foam bottom and a convoluted foam pad in the lid.

    Pelican iM2500 reviews

iM2500 Storm Trak Case with Foam (Yellow) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can not be transported better Is is my travel companion. It fits in the most aircrafts as a cabin baggage. So the expensive glasses are with me all the time. And when I have to throw it in my car boot, I do not have to worry much about getting stacked with other cargo. It is tough enough to take rough handling, but cuddles all my equipment inside. It is dust and water proof. It can be wheeled away on most walkways at airports and railway platforms, it now saves my back. An the advantage is, it gives an easy to access to its contents, if I have to gear up for a shoot without notice. I wish it had a combination lock...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rugged Case I use the iM2500 to carry two Nikon bodies accompanied by three 2.8 zoom Nikkon lenses (14-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm). The size is just right, the equipment fits snugly and is most adequately protected in its foam bed and hard, thick plastic casing. I chose this particular Pelican because of its perfect size for the job, its carry-on capability, the extended handle and wheels for rolling, and its seemingly excellent protection. I think the price is OK (though I'm sure the markup is not a disaster for the company), and I'd be ready to add the extra star if it lasts forever, as they suggest it would.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Notch When I'm traveling, it's become a real pain to carry my gear through airports and train stations. It's just too heavy and I don't find backpacks to be comfortable or convenient. I purchased the Storm Trak Case so that my gear would be well protected and I could wheel it instead of carry it. The cushioning provided by the foam is as good as it gets and the overall quality of the case is excellent. It takes some time to plan out your layout and cut out the foam cubes, but once you get the hang of it, it goes fairly easily. (And if you really screw up, a set of replacement foam won't break the bank) It's so good I'm tempted to check my gear at the airport....I won't, but I'm tempted.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but Pelican could easily make it better... This would have been good in the past when Pelican was one of the very few companies making hard cases.. Got this for the Co I work with for a specific item and while this is a good case, It's not even close to the quality of my Nanuk 935. This either needs an extra handle, or a curved design for the trolley handle that allows to lift a heavy case and keeps it relatively in balance. The trolley handle itself is wobbly, needs 2 hands to open/close and has only 1 length option unlike the Nanuk. The wheels are way too hidden. If you are in a carpeted area, most likely you'll drag this instead of roll it. If you roll it on concrete and will stop it will sit on the side rim. It will end up scratched. That rim should be thicker or should be a raised feet area on the bottom. The Pelican site also needs a case finder tool. (or if they have one put it in a place where it can be found) Would be awesome to find quickly the right size (like at Lowepro)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To ensure the safety of your equipment This is my third Pelican case. I bought this case to store and protect two DSLR cameras with a group of lenses while I travel on my motorcycle on photography trips in the highlands in Iceland. I bought this case because my experience of Pelican cases is that they are safe, reliable and they can withstands incredible stress and impact.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great case for your good gear. After my SUV was broken into (thankfully the thug missed the two nikon bodies behind my drivers seat) I decided I needed to rethink transporting my gear. This case is perfect. I am able to fit two bodies, a wide angle and 70-200 in addition to two strobes and a few accessories in it. IF I need to now leave gear in the vehicle I can tether the case to the bracket of my seat with a bike cable. I decided to replace the foam with the dividers shortly after purchasing it. Bonus: It can be used as a carry on when flying...keeping your gear close by at all times.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Size Poor Steering It is a great compact size and I got it for travel. I quickly found out, though, that the wheels are not the best and it can be extremely hard to steer through an airport.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I was looking for. This case appears to be tough as nails and the 'pick and pluck' foam is very protective. The only slight negative might be that the foam cubes are more work to remove than I expected but that means that the cubes won't be falling out either. The rollers work very smoothly and both handles are as tough as the case itself. The size of this case is great for airline carry on being within airline size requirements. (My case width measures 14 inches not 14.1 which puts it within the 22x14x9 size limits.) Well worth the money.
