    Vortex Media SJ-S-R reviews

SLR Storm Jacket Camera Cover, Small (Red) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product and speedy delivery The size is perfect for my Lumix bridge camera, accommodating the flip out LCD screen, the extended telephoto lens, and my hands. The bag material is waterproof, shedding water with no absorbtion. The cinch in front will unavoidably allow water to reach the lens barrel a little. Attatching the lens hood helps secure the bag and will help shelter the lens from rain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product, compact, easy to fit Great for times where a full weather cover is too restrictive. I use this and the medium size version for protection from muddy adventure style events where it is impossible to dodge every blob of mud coming at you. I also use it for remote cameras mounted on a tripod. Since the back of the camera is exposed, operation is less restrictive, meaning you are not working blind as is the case with a full cover like the Aquatech SS-Sport. A little pricey for what it is, but not for a camera cover.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Protects from rain Easy to use, works fine. If you have a lens shade, you can tighten the front around the lens shade and guarantee not just that your camera won't get wet, but also that drops won't hit the surface of the lens. Working from the back is a bit of a challenge, because sometimes you have to reach in to make an adjustment on the lens, i.e., in front of the camera body (turning on/off automatic focusing, turning on/off vibration control). Similarly, you have to move the cover to adjust the zoom. .

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Did what I asked it to do I was in New York for the monsoon over the weekend of 3/13/10 and wanted something to keep my A900 protected from the weather. The Storm Jacket performed its advertised function; it is water resistant, not waterproof. I kept my camera under my Gore-Tex raincoat as much as possible... the Storm Jacket was basically added protection. It kept my camera from getting wet, but I can't say that it kept it dry. I already own a Kata Elements cover, but left it at home because I've found it awkward to use. The Kata is a good, heavy-duty cover, but I think it's a bit too stiff, both the vinyl and the velcro lens attachment. I was prepared to spring for an Aqua Tech cover, but didn't because there is no compatible eyepiece for Sony line. The Storm Jacket worked better than a plastic bag simply because it has a drawstring at either end which allows you to shoot with the cover on. Beyond that, I think the plastic bag would have worked as well. This jacket will stay in my bag for emergency use

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bring on the rain! The cover cinches tightly around the lens, but if you have the type of lens where the end/hood rotates to focus, it may bind the auto-focus and damage the motor or gears. IF, hoods that slide to extend and non-rotating front work great. Other than that, it's well made and has generous openings. Since I don't intend on using a tripod, not having an opening at the bottom for a mount won't bother me. Someday I'll get a larger one with the tripod opening. Can't wait to go storm chasing!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's ok It's a weird product in that it's not much better than a cheapo plastic dispoable rain cover and nowhere near something like the thinktank hydrophobia line...I think it's a solid enviromental choice if you want something super light and portable but that has some durability AND see yourself being in wet environments more often than OMG it's raining!!...so I'd put it as excellent in terms of something for regular hikers or frequent travelers who might want something light/durable but don't have the room or weight allowance fro a serious rain cover...

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expensive bag Used this product during sand storm, and i can say, it works well to protect at least from 80% dust coming under it. Used it in Vietnam, in treck in SAPA. Was really humity and rainy all days, it propably helps little bit, but still material is not water tight enought, water was dripping under it. Even i wasnt using camera in that time, just rain hiting the cover makes it leak .Deff not water-resistant.Was dissapointed.
