Hoya XHD67UV overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya 67mm HD UV Filter is a general use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections while providing over 99.35% light transmission, eight layers of anti-reflection coatings are applied to the glass. These coatings offer a high degree of protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than uncoated filters. The coating formula associated with HD UV filters also promotes effective cleaning with regard to water, oil, and stains.

Constructed from chemically-hardened optical glass, the Hoya 67mm HD UV Filter offers enhanced resistance to scratches while providing clarity and color fidelity. It also features a thin, lightweight, aluminum-alloy filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting.

This UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

    Hoya XHD67UV reviews

67mm HD UV Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great filters, what a deal If you're like me, you use a UV filter to make cleaning the front of your lens easier. Too bad Hoya seems to have discontinued the HD series filters, replacing them with the HD3. I'm sure the HD3 are great filters (I have yet to try), but the price is much higher than the HD series. These don't fingerprint easily, water dosn't stain the glass, etc. They rarely need cleaning, and if so a light brush from a dry microfiber towle (or t-shirt, shhhhh) work just great. These filters are so good, I use them on just about all my lenses. Also look at the Hoya EVO Anti-static UV filters, also excellent, but a little pricer (cheaper than HD3 though).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice filter, but slightly yellow (warm) I bought this for my Nikon 85mm f/1.8G since I already own and like the 77mm HD Clear version and I thought I would try the UV one. If you are picky, there is clearly a very slight yellowish tint (warm) to this glass in comparison with the Clear HD filter I bought (also Hoya, so it's not a brand issue). In actual photographs, I do not notice much of a difference although I only recently received it so I will be testing it more. Again, for real-life photography, it probably won't matter, but if you hold up the two filters next to each other, you can see a very slight difference. Just something to consider if you need 100% clear filters I would go with the other Hoya 67mm Clear instead of this UV filter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not sure it's worth the extra $$ I ordered this particular filter because it was billed as being Waterproof, Stain Resistant, and Scratch Resistant. I shoot on-the-water sailing events and salt water spray on the front surface of the lens is a given. I hoped that this filter would last longer than other I had used from B+W and Hoya. After a week of intensive shooting and cleaning, I didn't find this filter to be any more durable than the other less expensive items.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing filter! I use this filter on my new sigma 35mm f/1.4 lens. -Has no color cast issues. -Has no sun flare or back lighting issues. -Just a great UV filter that wont degrade your shots!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great Hoya filter The best thing you can say about this type of filter is that you don't know it's on the end of your lens. This Hoya UV HD filter fits the bill. It's thin profile minimizes vignetting, it's perfectly clear with no discernible color shift, and it seems very well constructed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from protect your investment all-round choice to protect expensive lens. more than once a UV filter has taken a shock and kept the lens intact. reduces UV/blue haze on picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Haze has Cleared My first HD filter was purchased for the 70-200 IS 2.8 L Lens I agonized over for months and months. The decision to purchase this filter was based on that filter. I am very happy with both and must say that the coating is quite different than the lower level Hoya filters. These filters have the appearance of being made from quality cut glass. Liking the slimmer profile as well. Nice! I take pretty good care of my equipment. I don't expect to need to have a bomb proof filter on the front. As an extra insurance measure, it is nice to know that the HD filters can take an ill fated hit. Then there is the welcomed absence of the haze and smudges that seem to come from nowhere. Under reasonable using conditions, any moisture that does come in contact seems to clean off without the usual struggle of moving it around the filter for an hour. Dust and particulates seems to blow right off without any further coaxing. I am very happy with this line of filters and think they will find their way to most of my future lens acquisitions. Yes, they are expensive in comparison. But if you are going to put something in front of your expensive glass, this is a great purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You don't even know it's there... When I first took this filter out of the packaging I thought it was defective and they just sent me the ring. That's how immaculate the glass on this filter is. Screw it onto your lens, leave it on and forget it. It doubles as a protective shield for your lens too. The filter actually does produce noticeably sharper images outdoors where there is a lot of sunlight involved.
