Tokina BH77A overview

  • 1Description

The Tokina BH77A Lens Hood fits the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X lens, and is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

The "petal" shape of this lens hood maximizes the amount of hood coverage for the minimum amount of weight and hood area. This dedicated lens hood is designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

    Tokina BH77A reviews

BH77A Lens Hood for 11-16mm f/2.8 Lens is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from gotta have it, but... This hood pops off when the wind blows more than 1.1 mph. It really seems be designed to be lost. To make matters even worse the replacement costs about twice as much as it should Plus SHIPPING! And, it is not any better than the original. Unfortunately the 11-16 lens this hood fits is pretty much WORTHLESS if you do not have a hood, so you are stuck paying too doggone much for a part that is designed to be lost. I had to get it, I paid the price, but I am NOT happy about it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As advertised I recently purchased the lens used from BH without the lens hood. The hood fits well and does what it's made to do. Haven't had any flare problems to date. Would have given it 5-stars, but $ for a piece of plastic with some felt on it too much money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just A Replacement I bought a Tokina 11-16 used and it didn't have the hood. It helps cut down on sun issues but can also show up in photos some around the corners.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's a lens hood Had to replace the original when it was broken. These are flimsy but it's the only one available. Price is high too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome and Exactly What You Expect! This is a replacement for my Tokina 11-16mm Lens Hood that was broken during my trip. Imagine not having the hood on at that time! My lens would be shattered. The build quality of the hood is excellent. I broke 2 of my ribs when i slipped during mountain climbing. The lens hood protect my lens so well that it only chipped the inside of the hood a bit. I need to replace it so it can securely protect my lens again. This is what to expect from a good quality product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good plastic, lots of green I had the one that came with my lens get swiped off while adventuring in the mountains in Colorado, and was pretty sad to find it was going to be 40 to replace. However, I find it to be an essential little piece of plastic if you are working in any kind of direct light, as the lens loves to flare about any direct light it can get. Luckily, it's a durable hood, it's just a tiny over priced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great protection for lens I love this lenshood on my Tokina 116 Pro. It bulges out a few mm from the width of the lense, and protects the lens from knocks. I use the Tokina lens with this hood on my Nikon D90, and the hood keeps the lens from resting against my torso/upperleg when the strap is over my shoulder or neck. I hardly use a lens cap now (I use either Tiffen UV filter or Hoya HD filter for protection too), as the hood provides a lot of protection. Haven't noticed any ghosts yet. I'm going to put elastoplast tape on mine (and elsewhere on my Nikon D90's camera armor) to make it look trashy, coz at the moment it looks way too pro and like its worth a fortune, and I'm taking it to Africa on a big trip soon. Shame to leave glue all over it, but its there for looking after my lens, thats its job. Shield ghosts and stuff is a side bonus (I usually just adjust my perspective if I'm getting them in my shots anyway). Leave it on all the time, unless you can't fit it in your luggage with it on.
