The SpaceNavigator SE 3D Mouse from 3Dconnexion is a mouse designed to facilitate work with 3D software applications. Unlike a conventional mouse, which is limited to movement on two flat planes, this unit supports effortless motion in all directions. Simply push, pull, tilt, or twist the controller cap to simultaneously pan, zoom, and rotate 3D imagery on X, Y, and Z axes. This is the standard edition (SE) of the SpaceNavigator mouse and includes an unlimited use license appropriate for commercial purposes, as well as full phone, e-mail, and online support.

Increasing or decreasing pressure with the controller determines the speed with which the mouse responds. Its small footprint is well suited for studio or mobile work. It is compatible with most standard 3D applications and automatically recognizes such programs already loaded on your computer, including but not limited to Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, Solid Edge, UGS NX, and a host of other CAD and DCC applications.

This model includes (2) programmable function keys. When applications are pre-installed on your computer, the mouse will revert to default function configurations associated with each program. It is compatible with the following operating systems: Windows (2000, XP, Vista), UNIX/Linux, and Mac OS X (10.4.6 and later).

True 3D Control
Push, pull, tilt, or twist the controller cap to simultaneously pan, zoom, and rotate 3D imagery on X, Y, and Z axes.
The amount of pressure applied to the control knob determines the speed with which it responds.
The unit's small footprint and included travel pouch make this solution well suited for mobile work.
Programmable Functions
You can program its (2) custom function buttons or associate the buttons with the default controls of the 3D application you are using.

SpaceNavigator SE 3D Mouse is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 51.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3D Mice are a must have for CAD I've only had this device for a few weeks but now when ever I sit down to a CAD Workstation that doesn't have 3D control, I know that I'm not nearly productive as I could be. The only draw back is the blue LED lights inside the device are WAY to bright, they even hurt my eyes when I'm in a well lit room. Although you can disable the LEDs; every time that the device is unpluged from a machine the LEDs need to be turned off again. (Would be nice if they could be dimmed). Bottom line: If you do any type of work that requires manipulation of 3D data, then this entry level product is a must. I'm thinking about upgrading to a SpacePilot and using the SpaceNavigator for my laptop.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 3D NAVIGATION WITH EASE This device does exactly what it is suppossed to do. It navigates google earth with ease, and it allows you to add to an existing mouse the added functionality to relieve wrist or tendon problems that result from long term mouse controller use. I do wish it had more plug an play to work with older and newer 3D games such as homeworld or flight simulation programs. All in all it has a future to grow, and the company does release SDK development software. If you no how to decipher the Hieroglyphics, you can program the navigator to be used in other applications. Im not sure how true this is or whether it is all smoke and mirrors. Ill give the benefit of the doubt. C+ to Grow in my Book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 3D NAVIGATION IN AUTOCAD I use the Space Navigator for design of broadcast control rooms, AV mounting details and BIM in Autocad 2007. I love how you can lock on a point in 3D space and revolve around it. It may seem somewhat superfluous to using a standard mouse, but I've never been more productive at drawing in 3D. It took me a bit to get used to panning directions at first. It would have seemed to me to be more intuitive to use pull up to zoom in and push down to zoom out. However, once I was operating from a front face view of the object, I completely understood. Very nice, good price, highly recommended. Greg D.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm impressed I'm impressed with the device. It is well made, very heavy, so it stays in place on your desktop. If you haven't used a 3d mouse before, it takes a short amount of time to get use to it. After getting acclimated, you will love it. It will give you a lot more control with your sketch up, if you render. Get one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing! The product works, certainly! However the manufacturer in my opinion went out of its way to make it as hard as possible to interface it with various application. Sure, there is an SDK to hook it up, vendors who want it to work can make it so, probably for a price. But no user interface to even map a simple joystick or even keyboard strokes. I understand there was one but it was intentionally taken out. I regret buying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth and Fluid Right Out of the Box Installed quickly and correctly right out of the box. I am using it to record Machinima in Second Life. Although there are suggestions for making adjustments to the mouse, so far I am satisfied with the default settings, and after only a few hours use, I find it easy to fly the camera in Second Life. If you didn't know, the Navigator does not replace the conventional mouse. The default controls (used in Second Life), attach camera control to the Navigator, the arrow keys control avatar movement, and the regular mouse is used to select objects. There is detailed help for this in the game. Supposedly the Navigator can be used to move and rotate selected objects. I have not figured out how to do that yet. This is installed on a Windows 7 64 bit machine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Time Saver! A 3D mouse saves me SO much time while I'm CADing, especially in Pro/E or Solidworks b/c the normal pan/zoom controls are awkward. The product overall feels very solid, no complainants so far. However, I only rated it 4 stars because I do feel that Logitech is charging massive premium for a basic 3D mouse and exorbitant prices on their pro mouses. I have not regretted keeping an extra $100-$200 in my pocket for less on mouse buttons. Simply because I pretty much use it only for moving around my CAD models.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Item! Love it. Fast shipping from B&H. 3D Mouse was super easy to setup right out of the box for the application I was using. Feels nice. very heavey in place on desktop or comfortable in palm of one hand.
