Rated 5 out of 5 by from great for finding hot spots this is an essential tool for any gaffer, lighting technician and DP or cinematographer. Basically, it allows you to see any hot spots in your lighting design.buying this item from B & H photo really is the best bang for the buck. This is true especially if you live in Los Angeles since you don't pay for sales tax, and the shipping is very very minimal. One trick or tip is to buy this item with a more expensive item, because combining shipping means that you can get this item shipped for free usually that way.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For very bright set or outdoor lighting Very well built, is a must have tool for focusing large lighting fixtures or to determine the sun position during outdoors shootings. Because it is a lot darker, is NOT a color contrast viewing filter replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a professional tool As a viewing glass it is a bit dark compared to the Tiffen glasses. I use it mostly to look at the light beams direction and the sun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Save your eyes. This is an essential tool for the professional Gaffer or Cinematographer. It has a large eye cup and the glass element is a great size for focusing your lamps. The handle is a good length and can be gripped easily. Beefy, but not heavy and very sturdy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sometimes low tech is the answer A perfect device when you need to stare into a hot light. I use it to check all the lights before a video shoot. I foresee using it to help aim/focus stage lights. And it's nice to have at least one thing on set that doesn't need batteries or cables....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantatsic Excellent product I bought 4 so my lighting crew could all have one. They do exactly as they say they will and the large size makes using it a breeze. Only issue is the green colour shift but that is a personal thing and doesn't affect what it does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional gaffer's loop Professional gaffer's loop. Till now I had to get by with color contrast viewing loops. But with this one you can look directly at the sun (waiting for that stubborn cloud to clear!) and bulbs, lamps for as long as you want! Would be great if they could include a pouch (as other loops do). The plastic case that comes in stays at home, too big for my pockets or set bag!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what you want from a glass I has worked with several Gaffer's Glass before deciding to buy my own. Projects ranged from intense sprawling fashion week run way show lighting designs, to low key exterior locations when the clouds needed to be mapped for scheduling.Time and again the Blue Ring was my favorite choice. The amount of stops shaded by the density is just right for most applications. Alan Gordon is a super well respected name and there is good reason why. These are the reasons that I bought the Blue Ring Gaffers Glass by AGE. I highly recommend.
