Savage V01-0920 overview

  • 1Description

This is the 9 x 20' Savage Infinity Vinyl Background. Its unique matte finish allows for a glare free background. It is ideal for all portrait and commercial photography. The background comes with two sides - one shiny and one with a textural quality. The shooting side (non-shiny) has what Savage describes as a very subtle "weave pattern" and should be taken into consideration when using this background.

Infinity Vinyl Backgrounds come in rolls on strong cores and can be used on most background support systems. Colors depicted may vary slightly, due to differences in computer monitors, printed media, and variances in manufacturer's fabrics, dyes or paints.

Ideal for all kinds of photography
Easy to clean with damp sponge
Sturdy cores prevent wrinkles
Seamless, hangs straight
The shooting side has a minute textural quality to it that helps prevent glare

Savage V01-0920 reviews

Infinity Vinyl Background - 9 x 20' (White) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 90.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repacement for my 4 year old one. This is the most verstaile and durable backdrop for studio and sometimes street work. My 4 year old one has survived all manner of dance shoes in numerous studios and been in the street for 4 yours of Santa Claus. It scrubs clean with Simple Green and plastic scrubbies. Lives in the back of my pickup in a 9.5 Ft piece of plastic drainpipe with plumbing expansion plugs as caps on either end. Go white to dark gray easily by feathering your lights. Its heavy so don't skimp on the background support. The Photoflex Pro Duty Backdrop support is a good match. It's big but I'm 6'2 so not a problem for me working alone. A helper would be good if you're not so big.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Professional grade product This is ultimate background for high key fotography. No wrinkles, no glare , nice cove , very resistant to stiletto-hilled shoes. However, its so heavy , even very solid paper core bents slightly, making wrinkles when you roll it up. Steel pipe from ... would fix the bending problem, but adds more weight, so plastic chain of expan drive would not hold even a day of shooting. I am DEAD Serious - you MUST get manfrotto metal drive chain, or else you will witness the wrath of unravelling vinyl roll. Believe me it's not pretty, embarassing in front of client and downwards dangerous.PS: I plan to replace my black muslin with another roll of this beauty. Good things are so addictive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid backdrop. This is a great size backdrop and will work for most people shooting applications. The vinyl does wipe off fairly clean with light use but it will scuff with gym/dress shoes and those do not come off easily ( if at all ). There is also a touch of a blue color if you aren't blowing it to full white ( which it does great ). Another drawback is the cardboard tube it comes on will bow, even on my fist use I had to support it in the middle because I wanted to let it fall a light grey. I am thinking about switching it over to a metal "tube" to fix this, if it came on a metal tube I would have given 5 stars even with the other minor drawbacks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hate it! There is nothing I truly like about using Vinyl! When lighting it directly there is always shadows from multiple wrinkles that occur when it sags from the hanging tube that is used to mount it to the wall brackets in my studio. I have tried many solutions to prevent this with no success. As far as it being cleanable, not so much! Nothing really will remove shoe scuffs from this background. It also has an odd albedo! Kind of shiny but not, with a texture somewhat like woven fabric. Nope, I'm not a fan of this background, going back to the less expensive and more practical paper backgrounds. And one last thing; It smells very chemical! The odor lingers for many months, and again whenever it is unrolled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bye, bye seamless paper Awesome; this background works like a dream, perfect and pure white, but one of the remarkable issues is the cleaning; I shoot a catalog; 15 models and 3 different clothes of each model, at the middle of the shooting while we were making a break for lunch, a guy of the crew just clean it with damp sponge and dry it with a fan, 20 minutes later I start shooting again, simple perfect. Is it heavy? Yes it is, but I think is as heavy as it supposed to be.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from In the long run, I saved money here Even though paper backgrounds are cheaper and lighter, I was going through paper very quickly. You get one pair of dirty shoes on a white backdrop and you pretty much have to tear it away for the next shoot. But with the vinyl backdrop I can just wipe it off with a wet cloth and it looks good as new. Plus, it doesn't tear. And the texture does reflect back as pure white if you light it correctly. Sure, this costs the same as maybe 3 paper rolls, but if you go through them like I did you'll realize soon enough the value of the vinyl.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every cent! I've had this white vinyl backdrop for about 6 years.I'm just now replacing it because it's had a lot of use and abuse! (4 studios and dozens of locations later!) I had a problem with it sagging a couple of months after I bought it...but my friend found a metal pipe to fit inside the cardboard tube and it straightened right up! :) It is a heavy beast now...but has worked great, no sagging, no wrinkling, lots of foot traffic!I found if I clean it with foaming glass cleaner from @ it will get almost anything off of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome for High key This was just what i was looking for. I needed to do a high key portrait for a very large dance group. It was very hard to find something large enough to accomodate my needs. This will be perfect. I love the fact that it is wrinkle free, my muslins were a nightmare. And easy to clean just wipe and go. the only downfall I would say is the space it takes up. I am so glad I came across this item.
