    Nikon MC-DC2 reviews

MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 743.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord by Nikon If you use a GPS unit like Nikon's GP1, the 10-pin connector is occupied by the GPS connection. This remote shutter release connects into the side of the GPS unit, so that remote release is possible. Since I have spent the money for a high resolution D800E, I want to make the most of that resolution and sharpness by using a sturdy tripod and a remote release. I can see a difference in sharpness with and without a remote release. Especially if you are shooting landscapes, where both location and maximum sharpness are critical, I highly recommend this remote release in combination with a GPS that uses the 10-pin connector.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't Use a Tripod Without It Essential item for taking pictures when the camera is mounted to a tripod. All the expense and effort of having and using a tripod is often undone when you press down the shutter release on your camera. Action; pressing the shutter, reaction; ever so slight shake of the camera body that can be magnified into a blur of the subject being photographed. The remote cord eliminates the pressure on the shutter release. Maybe Nikon should just add it into the box because I can't imagine using a camera mounted to a tripod without one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and Easy to use. The MC-DC2 remote cord is very reliable and so easy to use right off the box. Just plug it in and fire away. Reliable in a sense that it hasn't misfire yet. In my case, it is more of a challenge to open the accessory connector cap of my D90 than to use this at all. Due to its size, it is convenient enough to carry around with you in the back pack. It is so small so light and it doesn't take alot of space. Best thing is, it doesn't need a battery to power it up. The three foot long cord is just enough that if let go from a tripod mounted camera, it will only dangle to its side thus tripping from it is remote if not impossible. Durability wise, it is made of hard plastic and seemed good enough. Like anything else, it will need tender care in order for it serve you a long time. This remote release cord has one botton. If you're looking for simplisity and reliability, and the only need is for it to remotely fire your camera to eliminate the vibration, then this is for you. Best use for low light long exposure shots. There really is nothing wrong I can say about this product except that if you have a big hand, you may find it hard to grip due to its size. Great product for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I highly recommend this cable release! I was getting ready for a trip to the Desert Southwest and, since my trip included Bryce Canyon, I wanted to try shooting the Milky Way. I already had a wireless remote for my camera, but I wouldn't be able to leave the shutter open long enough with the remote. So, I purchased the MC-DC2 remote release cord recommended for my Nikon D5000 since it has a lock-out for the shutter release button. It worked perfectly! I didn't get a shot of the Milky Way (operator error, for sure!), but the cable release worked just as it should and I did succeed in getting a shot of star trails since I was able to leave the shutter open for as long as I wanted.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many Uses, Just Get It, You'll See! This Nikon Remote Release has many uses. Camera 8 feet up on a tripod. Camera hanging out over a cliff or building edge. Shooting nesting birds (less scary). Getting out of the way (candid, hiding). Macro, especially if tethered. Great! In LiveView, you can sort of hide behind the camera. Reduce camera shake (long exposure). Keep your hands in your pockets (cold or candid). It's light/small easy to put in the camera bag. You can connect the MC-DC2 Remote Release Cord while your Nikon is (ON). USB: Hot Plugable Look for the little black stripe only on one side of the stainless steel connector, that goes toward the back, toward you, when you're plugging it in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inexpensive treasure!! Purchasing the remote release cord is truly one of the best things I have ever done. I was having trouble getting sharp photos in some instances and just the simple addition of this inexpensive device makes a tremendous difference. Not only can I take shots and the camera remains stable but I am able to stand back a bit and see the shot from somewhere other than the viewfinder. I will never head out to take photos without it. I like the fact that you can slide the trigger button and it will hold the shutter release for however long you like allowing for some great shots you might not otherwise be able to get. The shots I'm getting make me feel like a pro!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nikon corded release remote (MC-DC2) I will be using this cord for portraits (animal and children) where it is imperative to re-position myself in different locations to focus the subjects attention to the correct direction. The generous length of the cord allows me to step away from the camera to do this, without need of a timer and takes away any camera shake in low light conditions. Furthermore, the remote allows me to keep the shutter open as long as I want for low light/night shots, and again, alleviates any shake. It is a great tool to have in the tool box for any photographer. It is simplistic and easy to use. Though made primarily of plastic, it seems solid and well constructed. I have not found any faults with the device to date.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must have accessory I bought this remote control for my Nikon D7000. I was needing this accessory because I like to shooting in low light situations using my tripod. Even when you can use the timer in order to take the shot, sometimes is mandatory the use of a remote control, because it helps to take the shot exactly when you need it and as long as you need it (bulb mode). I use this accessory for night photography mainly. This remote control allows me to have remotely the same functions of the camera's shutter button, focusing half pressing and then take the shot fully pressed. Additionally the remote control has a lock switch, so I can take long exposure shots without any problem.
