  • 1Description

The Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera is a super-zoom, compact point-and-shoot camera that delivers super high quality photos at any focal length. Featuring an incredible 20x optical zoom lens, optical image stabilization, UD glass, and high ISO capability, the SX10 offers many of the features of Canon's legendary EOS SLRs in a compact, easy to use package.

Boasting an impressive 10.0 Megapixel DIGIC 4 sensor, the SX10 renders breath-taking photographs with amazing color accuracy, incredible detail, and superb sharpness--even in large scale prints. Advanced Noise Reduction technology, innovative Face Detection, and video recording further expand the possibilities of your photography. The SX10 is ready to help you capture your vision!

Powerful Imaging Performance
By combining a 10.0 megapixel CCD sensor and Canon's advanced DIGIC 4 Image Processor, the PowerShot SX20 IS offers amazing image quality with dramatic low light sensitivity. Impressive ISO 1600 capability reduces blur and subject movement for crisp photos with spectacular sharpness and clarity.
20x Optical Zoom Lens
Built to the highest standards, Canon optics bring rich color and uncompromising quality to every subject. The 20x optical zoom range (28-560mm 35mm film equivalent) of the SX10 takes you where the action is. From landscapes to telephoto sports and nature shooting, you'll never have to compromise on your vision.
2.5" Vari-Angle LCD
Easy to view at any angle, the razor-sharp 2.5" LCD of the SX10 makes composition a snap. The screen offers 270 degree tilt and 180 degree flip for easy shooting at any angle. Framing and reviewing your photos is a pleasure, even under the brightest sunlight.
Multiple Shooting Modes
With 24 Shooting Modes including 11 Special Scene Modes, you're ready for whatever shot comes your way. When you're taking pictures, the only thing you want to think about is your subject. With the PowerShot SX10 IS, you can count on exact focus no matter where your subject is in the frame. You've got Shooting Modes including Special Scene Modes that give you breathtaking, exhilarating pictures even when shooting conditions are tough.
Optical Image Stabilization
Canon's optical image stabilizer counteracts camera shake caused by unwanted movement. Vibration sensors detect the angle and speed of hand movement and send this information to the processor, allowing the camera to compensate. This adds stability to hand-held, telephoto and moving shots and enables shooting at shutter speeds of up to three stops without the use of a tripod.
Advanced Face Detection Technology
Canon's Advanced Face Detection Technology keeps every face in focus. The latest in focus-tracking technology coupled with Intelligent Contrast Correction, and Red-eye Correction deliver consistent sharpness and natural, life-like skin tones.
Intuitive Manual Controls
If you've ever wanted the control of an SLR with all of the convenience of a point-and-shoot camera, look no further. The SX10's control placement shares the logic of Canon's popular EOS SLR family. From Aperture and Shutter Priority to full-on Manual control, the SX10 is the perfect camera to help you capture your creative vision.
Easy Printing and Sharing
The Print/Share button makes direct printing easier than ever. Simply connect the PowerShot SX10 IS to a Canon PIXMA Inkjet Photo Printer or SELPHY Compact Photo Printer or any PictBridge compatible photo printer, press the lighted Print/Share button and print. Also use the Print/Share button to easily transfer images to your personal computer.

    Canon SX10 IS Reviews

PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 174.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than S5IS....would recommend My new SX10 is arrived the other day, and after upgrading from the S5 IS, I find that it is set up so much better than the previous model....especially the memory card slot, lens cap (although you may need to put a cap keeper on it) and button placement. The Biggest difference for me is the noticible noise reduction even at long zoom distances. I LOVE the 20x optical is well worth the money, and as a backup camera for my Canon Rebel XSi, it is convienient to just carry one item instead of lots of lenses and equipment. I think it is a great little camera!!! My only wish is that it would be able to attach a lens filter for protection. Great Camera and very sharp, clear pictures!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from canon SX10 little great camera I had the canon S3 and I was pretty happy with it. Don't forget that 20X is a helluva zoom so you need great light to use it handheld or a specific setup to prevent motion. Filter can be mounted with care, on a 52mm dia opening of the lens. Does excellent videoclips. Macro/supermacro, are great. I wish I can get the CMOS sensor version but I'm happy with the CCD version (canon SX10). Easy to carry, makes a good buddy as a car camera or a decent long lens when you need one and can't carry heavy gear. Offers a great grip and stays pretty good in hand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camera! I was looking for a superzoom camera, with the convenience of a compact, but didn't want to go as far as an SLR. The Canon SX10 IS fits the bill. The camera sits nicely in one's hand , is solid but not too heavy. The function buttons are easy to use and logical. Power-up is quick. The face detection function works very well, and can lock onto one face while tracking multiple other faces simultaneously. When set onto timer it will detect a new face entering the picture and then snap. The video function is very advanced with dual microphones and ability to zoom in/out while taking movies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera Ive only had the camera for a short while and have shot just 200 pictures mostly trying to get used to the camera's features. I have a Canon EOS 40D but I wanted an advanced point and shoot camera one with a high power optical zoom with an image stabilizer. I wanted a camera that is light, easy to use and renders a decent picture. So far I havent been disappointed. Whether at wide angle or full zoom the pictures are crisp and clear with no noticeable distortion. I recently went on a lengthy hiking trip and didnt want to carry a heavy camera. I was skeptical about taking the SX 10 because many of the photo ops were worthy of a much better camera, but I thought what the heck this is why I bought this camera; its light and easy to carry. I wasnt disappointed, the pictures were exceptional! Color, exposure, and picture sharpness was right on and I had all the telephoto power I needed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful upgrade. I use this as a travel camera at times when I can't bring my big guns. The camera does wonderfully. Yes, there is more noise than a $4000 DLSR, but I expect it. As for movies, I don't expect it to do movies, since I'm buying a still camera. And Windows Media Center opened the .mov file with no problem. For less than 400 bucks, this camera comes very close to being just as good as a lower end DLSR IMHO. Oh, and the way the screen tilts and swivels? I'll continue to buy this model line as long as they include this feature. My only fuss with the camera is the lack of RAW.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great point & shoot camera, Highly reco' Pros: * Great for all purpose shooting * Basically got it for my wife, who wants an easy to use point and shoot for general travel related stuff * We loved the range 20x zoom with 28mm wide angle, especially for the $$ * This is our 5th Canon camera (we are a family of Canon), and absolutely love the results * Excellent LCD display, very good battery life Cons: I guess the only con (others have noted this too), is that the lens cap does not have a thread attached. My wife is used to cameras where you don't have to worry about the lens cap, so its taking a while to get used to this. As you can see the pros outweigh the cons.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Well-Designed Pro-Sumer Camera This camera successfully fills the huge niche between a point-and-shoot and just shy of professional photographer ability companion. I believe it extracts the maximum possible versatility from the small sensor that all pro-sumer cameras are equipped with. The zoom range is best in class. It uses standard AA (preferably rechargeable) batteries which are inexpensive and available everywhere. The single missing feature on my wish list for this camera would be raw files, which are not available. I could not be happier with my purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Camera but can't attach filters Contrary to remarks by several other reviewers, there are no threads on the front of this lens for screwing in a filter. I tried a 52 mm filter and was able to JAM it into the grooves, but examined the grooves under a magnifier and THEY ARE NOT THREADS! I would not risk damaging the lens or losing the filter by jamming a filter into this lens. Still, this is an amazing camera for the money, has many features not found in others such as the swing-out LCD panel and ultra long lens. The eyepiece viewfinder fills a larger portion of your field of vision than others and has excellent quality image.
