Leica Summilux-M 21mm f/1.4 ASPH. Overview
Super wide-angle prime features a bright, fast f/1.4 maximum aperture to benefit working in low-light conditions and for greater control over depth of field.
Five anomalous partial dispersion elements reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for increased clarity as well as consistent, even illumination and well-corrected vignetting.
Two aspherical elements suppress spherical aberrations and distortion for improved sharpness.
Floating elements system achieves consistent image quality throughout the focusing range, even at the minimum focusing distance of 2.3'.
The front of the lens is male threaded to accept the included lens hood and the hood is designed to accept Series 8 filters.

I have had the Summilux-M-21mm for about a year. I use it on both my M246 and M10-R. Incredible low light quality, in particular with the 246. I do not use the Brightline finder with this lens. I can easily focus manually without the help of the adapter. Awesome lens.

This lens is amazing. No point buying an M and not having the right lenses Its not cheap but its Leica 100% you get what you pay for. I uploaded my my first Picture I took with the 21mm f/1.4 not a bad start I think.

question
Can this fit on a Ef mount or a Nikon D800 camera? What format is this lense for?
The 21mm f/1.4 Summilux-M Aspherical Manual Focus Lens has the M-Mount. It would not be compatible with Nikon or Canon DSLRs. It is compatible with Leica, Voigtlander, and Zeiss M-mount rangefinders.

How can I install the filter? Under the hood?
How can I install the filter? Under the hood?
Yes. There is room under the hood for a special series filter which is made by Leica. It is not threaded but just sits in the space.

question
What size should be the filter(s) to be used with this lens ?
You can find the Series 8 filters on BH by searching for ND filters and then scrolling down to the bottom of the filter size list. They are at the bottom of the list. I use the 0.9 (three stop) filter. The reason for the special filter is that they sit behind the lens hood and are not screwed on. There is a slight noise (do to movement of the filter) which is normal. With the M (240), you can leave the filter on and simply switch between ISO 200 for outdoor photos in daylight and ISO 3200 for evening or indoor photos. (Kudos to Thorsten Overgaard!)
