Leica M-21 Overview

  • 1Description

This Leica Brightline Finder M-21 is a viewfinder for 21mm M lenses. The finder provides a remarkably vibrant, high-contrast image. Due to a concave mirror in the optics, part of the incoming light is used to illuminate the picture outline as a bright frame. This is the same as in viewfinders of Leica M cameras.

The finder has parallax compensation markings for distances below 6.56' (2m) and also has markings for the slightly smaller image field of Leica M8 models. It can therefore be used for film and digital photography.

The optics are given a high-quality multi-layer coating to guarantee optimum viewing through the finder in all conditions. The high-quality metal body of the finder is designed in the popular retro look of the fifties and sixties, but is milled from solid brass according to the latest technologies and then given a black paint finish to match the camera. The eyepiece side is rubberized to protect eyeglasses.

    Leica M-21 Reviews

Brightline Finder M-21 for 21mm M Lenses (Black) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect for Leica M Cameras This is the only viewfinder currently in production (along with the Leica Frankenfinder) that is properly offset for Leica M rangefinders. The Zeiss and Voigtlander versions are made for cameras with hot shoes directly above the lens. A Leica hot shoe is a little to the right of the center of the lens, therefore an offset is necessary to get accurate framing. I had the Zeiss finder and it was big and bright without the clutter of the frames meant for the M8 crop factor, but the inaccuracies where a little troublesome, so I bought this one for twice the price. I would have given 5 stars where it not for the fram lines meant for M8s
