Its 0.6 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Last weekend I took some very nice waterfall shots using my 0.6 ND filter. Now that I have the 0.6, I see the advantages of a 0.9 or greater. I see another ND in my future.

To reduce light coming into the lens, for better image quality and to protect the lens and UV protection.

What can I say about an ND filter? Tiffen makes quality products. Performs like it's supposed to and doesn't have any off color cast like a cheaper brand would.

question

Can you stack more than one of this same filter on a lens to get more stops down (for example .6 stacked on .6 = 1.2) ?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, but you can also start to get vignetting as the filters move further away from the lens.
