  • 1Description

Kodak's VISION3 500T is a high-speed tungsten-balanced movie film characterized by a fine grain structure, broad dynamic range, and the flexible nominal sensitivity of a 500-speed index. It has a wide exposure latitude with exceptional highlight control for working in a variety of lighting conditions, ranging from high contrast outdoor lighting to mixed interior light situations. Advanced Dye Layering Technology (DLT) is also used to reduce the appearance of grain in the shadows for cleaner detailing and clarity. As part of the VISION3 series of movie films, this stock has high archival stability and is well suited to digital post-production processes.

This item is one 50' cartridge of single perf. Super 8 color negative film for process in ECN-2 chemistry.

Kodak 8955346 Reviews

VISION3 500T Color Negative Film #7219 (Super 8, 50' Roll) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Revision of past review! Great Film! I had written a review of this film based on an experience I had with it about 5 years ago, using both negative and reversal films on the same project. I recently shot another project with both the 500t and Kodak ektachrome and was extremely pleased to find that the 500t actually looked better than the ektachrome! It handled low-light beautifully, the grain was nice, and the contrast was far better than that of the Ektachrome. The Ektachrome was too contrasty, making some images almost useless. The 500t footage was just beautiful and still retained the distinct character of Super 8 film, without the excessive worry you'd have with a low ASA film or with reversal. I highly recommend!!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A good stock; Reversal is better This is a great film for the obvious reasons - you want to be able to shoot on Super 8 but you are in a low-light situation. I found in telecine that it did not transfer very well. It's not just graininess; it's a quality issue. I shot a film on both the 500T stock and a 100 Reversal (ektachrome I guess, forget) and though both looked nice, the 100 Reversal had more of that 'super 8' look that we all strive for - it was cooler-hued (before color correct) and had a solider look. So though this is very useful, practically, I'd do a little more work and light for the 64/100 reversal stocks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Motion Film Excellence Enjoyed this product greatly. I used this to film an indoor, self-lit project and the results were fantastic- little to no grainy resolution and a clear and crisp image!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing film with results that rival Hol A high speed film featuring several technical innovations that deliver improved exposure latitude-so you can capture an amazing amount of shadow detail with noticeably lower grain even in near darkness--i can't believer it's super 8!--, or rely on the extended highlight latitude and follow the action into bright light without worrying about blown-out details.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! I've usedthis product with a Canon 310XL Super 8 camera, the film itself is very simple to pop in to place inside the camera and it runs pretty well. It does say to keep it in approximate 55F so I put it inside my fridge until i actually used it in the camera. It's great that the packaging comes in some sort of aluminum bag that definitely protects it. As a beginner, I wish there were more specifications or samples on b & h website to view how well this film does and how sample footage would look.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great in low light !!! This film really saved me at a wedding I was shooting.. It started to get cloudy out early, and the light was really falling off fast.. i will always have a few rolls in my bag just incase !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Super 8 Stock Ever Produced! Especially with a good 85 filter, this is the most versatile film you will ever use in the Super 8 format. You can take it into bright light outdoors or dim indoors and still get amazing results, especially after a good DI workflow. I rarely want to use anything else. The 100D is better for reproducing the vintage Kodakchrome look. Vision3 50D is better for very bright exterior, but only because of reduced grain and lack of need of 85 Filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sees in the dark! This film truly surprises me when I use it. I've shot it in near black wedding ceremonies and gotten an image from it. It's unreal. The latitude is great. I've also shot it at 160ISO and gotten back a solid image after color correcting so don't be afraid of overexposure if your camera can't meter it properly. Also helps if you get a proper 2k scan to minimize the grain. 1080p telecines tend to make the grain very chunky.

question

Will this work with Kodak Brownie automatic?
Asked by: Eli H.
The Kodak Brownie Movie camera is an 8mm, not a Super 8 camera and thus cannot take this film. The only film in the world available for your camera is this black and white film from the Czeck Republic. question

Hi, would this film be sutable for a Yashica U-matic?
Asked by: lauren a.
Sorry, no. The Yashica U-matic is a reel to reel 8mm camera. It cannot accept this Super 8 film and it's cartridge. But wait, you are in luck! There exists one film on the planet that will work in the Yashica U-matic. It is this one and this one only. Will this film work with Revere 8 Model ...

Will this film work with Revere 8 Model Seventy-Seven?
Asked by: Kaya
It will not. Our research indicated that is an 8mm film camera, not a Super 8 camera. The only 8mm film we sell is B&H # FOR1002XS810. You would want to look at this film instead. https://bhpho.to/2cF11Ld
