    Photogenic RTK-4 reviews

RTK-4 Radio Trigger Set is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad... Only syncs to 200 for flash, not a major issue, but somewhat limiting. Light weight, very easy to use. Worked the first time right out of the box. Not the strongest construction, however, acceptable for the price. I would recommend this for anyone that is looking for an inexpensive wireless flash to experiment with. If you are going to try to make money using this unit, DONT, but, if you want to experiment and have fun, then this isn't a bad unit for the price. I bought it for shooting models, not too bad, but there is motion blur due tothe 160 sync isssue, if I have them moving. I will use it for other 'experiments' that I have planned.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NOT WORTH THE MONEY! We all know how problematic sync cords can be. This product is only marginally better. I recently used it for the first time. Out of 600 shots, it failed to trigger the flash 36 times. If I would still be using film, I would be really mad because I would have basically wasted a whole roll of film. If you know anything about radios, the problem is that the transmitter is VERY weak and it is VERY line of sight susceptible. That means that if ANYTHING is in between the transmitter and the receiver, (i.e. props or even your own body) the flash will not trigger. I should have saved up more money and bought something better!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not waste your money on this! I bought this Radio Trigger to use with my Nikon D200 and Gemini monolights. I wanted to forego all the bells and whistles of the more expensive triggers to save some money. I just wanted a way to fire my strobes consistently, without a pc cord. This trigger has 4 channels to choose from. I had a job that was on location at a shopping mall. Each of the four channels experienced interference and caused the lights to fire randomly (over and over). So I was unable to use the trigger at all. Back at my studio, where there is no interference, the trigger failed to work (randomly) more than 25 percent of the time. Very frustrating! Save your money for a better Trigger. This one is not even usable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works fine, short battery lives The transmitter's A23 battery does not last long, and initially it's quite difficult to open the transmitter to replace this battery (the top half was glued onto the area around the test button). Once this glued joint is broken, it will be simple to change the battery. The receivers' AA batteries are also short lived. I was told that both the transmitter and the receivers are always on (no on/off switch), and this drains the batteries after a few weeks, whether you use the product or not. Now I remove all the batteries after each use and reinstall right before use. I also bring spare batteries. Never had a misfire yet, keeping my fingers crossed. I've never stand more than a few feet away though.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't but this piece of garbage One-screw is under the sticker! no instructions of that after almost breaking the clam shell and two, save your money for the pocket wizards. I regret buying this and now I've wasted my money on this ...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good I bought this kit last year at BH, when I was in NY visiting. I thought that it was so inexpensive, that I could try, and if did not work, I would not loose a fortune. Well what can I tell you? It works, and very well for the last 10 to 12 months! In the beginning I tried to use it closer to my strobes, since in the box was written that the range is something around 50 feet. Maybe if you have radio interference, because mine goes as far as 90 feet! In short: you can buy it, instead of those others very expensive ones. I am very satisfied.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Honestly if it weren't for the Reviews I would have never figured out how to get the battery into this thing. It says the battery is installed it's not, it comes with a screwdriver and two batteries, but no instructions and hiding the screw behind a label? Who's bright idea was that? Honestly if I had not read the review posted here I would have thrown this thing out the window. For terrible instructions I give it a two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Held up to expectations This kit works well with my strobe lights. Easy to set up (less than 5 minutes), small and compact. I have read other reviews about this particular product and had some concerns about consistency of firing my slaves, but this product worked very well. I have recently finished a Santa marathon (about 700 pictures of kids with Santa) in just a few hours. The only time my lights did not flash was when I didn't wait for the light to recharge prior to taking the next pic. Other than my impatience, this worked better than I had expected.
