question

I purchased this lens a few years ago. I want a sony a7ii. I also have canon 85mm 1.8.Will this lenses have fast af with the Metabones adaptor? Or should I get the sigma adaptor?
Asked by: Anonymous
While Metabones does mention that their MB_EF-E-BT5 adapter offers fast autofocus on the A7 II, this particular lens is not listed as being tested with this adapter. However, the Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM has been tested.

question

Does this work with an Ursa Mini? Would any of the electronics work?
Asked by: Alan
On the EF mount URSA Mini there is push-button AF that works with Canon lenses. It should work with this lens as well. Camera controlled aperture and metadata is expected to work as well.

question

Would this lens work with a Mitakon Zhongyi turbo II lens adapter attached to a Blackmagic pocket cinema camera? Can I control the focus, and the aperture? Thanks.
Asked by: Pedro M.
I am not familiar that camera or lens adapter so I cannot speak to that. However, the lens does provide manual focus control. My experience on my full-frame and APS-C DSLRs has been great and I would recommend this lens to any still photographer.

Which way does this lens zoom- the same direction as Canon lenses, or opposite?
Asked by: Aidan B.
It zoom extending out as the Canon does. No problems with filters as it does not rotate. Extended it will be shorter than Canon one.

question

Will the AF on lens work on a Sony a7II with an adapter?
Asked by: Carol F.
The Sigma MC-11 Mount Converter/Lens Adapter (Sigma EF-Mount Lenses to Sony E), B&H # SIMC11C, or the Metabones T Smart Adapter Mark IV for Canon EF or Canon EF-S Mount Lens to Sony E-Mount Camera, B&H # MEEFEBT4, to connect the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 IF EX DG HSM Autofocus Lens for Canon EOS to the Sony Alpha a7 II Mirrorless Digital Camera. Both adapters would retain all electronic communication between the camera and lens, including autofocus.

question

is it as good as the canon 24-70 i shoot motor sports need the wide for night and this is much cheaper ?
Asked by: harold c.
Sigma 24-70 is a great lense for portraits and is great with low lighting. As far as using it for action shots, I haven't had the best experience. I've had some trouble during weddings where there's a lot going on. Another good lense for low lighting is the canon 50 mm f1.8 prime lense, but you would loose width. Prime lenses offer a great quality. Maybe looking into 25 mm would help you out. Overall, it's a great lense, at a great price but not for action shots.
