The weight bar for all Quickjibs and Cranes is 1" in diameter. Any standard weights from a sporting goods store should work just fine.

Can the snap crane (8 or 9') be adapted to mount on a 100 mm bowl tripod? I want to set my pivot point closer to three feet from the ground.
No, it's not possible to mount this over 100 lbs. precisely balanced VariZoom SnapCrane9 9' Crane & Pan/Tilt System (B&H# VAVZSC9) on a 100mm bowl tripod. However, using the included tripod you can certainly dip the height of the camera to even below the height of the floor -- say, into a hole or over a cliff. In fact, in the video on this page you can see that the operator cranes down below the height of the surface on which the tripod is positioned and into the water of a swimming pool.
