Vortex 2X overview

  • 1Description

The Vortex Optics Binocular Doubler multiplies the magnification of any Vortex binocular with 32mm or bigger objective lenses by a factor of 2, effectively converting them in to a part-time spotting scope.

The doubler has fully multicoated optics and a textured grip surface, and simply pushes on to the outside of the eyecup.  Without much to carry, you'll have a second option for highly magnified observing.

It helps to have a binocular tripod adapter and monopod to take full advantage of the increased power in longer glassing sessions.

Binocular Doubler is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must Have! I have used in in the field on my 10x42 Razor binos. WOW! What a game changer. The doubled image is not as sharp or bright as the near perfect image I get from my Razors, but still more than adequate for when extra magnification is necessary. The ability to quickly double the magnification while glassing from a tripod has saved me a lot of walking already. This is the perfect bino companion for when I don't want to carry a spotting scope with me. Adds almost no weight to my gear and fits neatly in my Vortex Guide Pack/Case. I wish I would have bought this sooner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lens Quality I am a die-hard Vortex guy, and have been very happy with all the optics and accessories I have purchased from them. This particular item is an exception, unfortunately. I bought this to use on my 12x50 Viper HD's, and I have two complaints with it. 1) I wish the magnifier fit more easily than just on the lip of the eyepiece of the optic. 2) The lens quality really is nowhere near that of my Viper HD's, which to a point I can understand since it is not advertised as a HD accessory. However, the image is significantly distorted at longer ranges, which is the whole purpose for having this device to better analyze things with that doubled magnification. My experience so far with this doubler though, is the image is so distorted that I don't even take it out of my binoc harness anymore because it doesn't allow me clearly see those long range deer that I am trying to assess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performance and Value for the money. The optics are great. I used them an hour after the sun went down on a cloudy sky and I still have clarity and could easily see into the brush when my naked eyes couldn't pick anything out. Although weight may bother some, you easily get used it when considering it's performance! Really nice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Genius concept and design!! I was on the fence about this but after trying it out I couldn’t be happier with it! It isn’t the same image quality as a true spotting scope; however, it weighs about as much as 12 feathers so is a no-brainer-addition to the optics kit. If you’re even remotely interested in this, BUY IT!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good idea, poor execution This seems like a good idea, but it's ridiculously hard to put on my Vortex fury hds. (Even though I specifically asked Vortex if it would fit and they said yes...)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vortex Doubler Great product! I needed the ability to pack light without the heavy spotter. The doubler gives me that ability plus have a lightweight long range optic in conjunction with my binoculars.
