Vortex VPR-M-06BDC overview

  • 1Description

Vortex is dedicated to the development and production of unique optics with features that allow you to see the world more clearly.

Viper riflescopes offer a cornucopia of high-end features to enhance your next great outdoor adventure. These scopes are fitted with XD-glass objective lenses with XR multicoatings for a refined sight picture with brilliant contrast and edge-to-edge clarity. Repeatable accuracy is ensured by the Precision-Glide Erector System and the Precision-Force Spring System - your zero will be easy to attain, and it'll stay put under recoil.

The importance of refinements such as the MAG-View Lever, pop-up turrets, and argon purging becomes readily apparent when you catch that first glimpse of a trophy buck way up high on a distant ridge. Your sight picture will be crystal clear, and rich with previously unseen details. Adjusting windage and elevation will seem effortless - you'll be on target at any distance in a flash.

This Viper PA 6.5-20x50 offers high-magnification for long-range target acquisition, and a large 50mm objective for a brighter sight picture. It's configured with a 30mm main-tube, tall turrets with 1/4 MOA clicks and 68 MOA of travel, a Dead-Hold BDC reticle, and a matte black finish.

A mounting base and rings are used to attach a riflescope to a firearm. A comfortable sight picture is contingent upon the height of the rings. A comfortable cheek-weld is the result of properly positioning the scope over the receiver. Mounting the scope close to the receiver is preferable, yet scopes with larger objectives need higher rings so the front bell can clear the barrel. It should be noted that in many mounting applications, a professional gunsmith's skills will be needed for proper installation.

30mm One-piece aluminum main tube
Fast focus eyepiece for rapid target acquisition
Argon purging for water and fogproof performance
Side focus knob corrects parallax error from 50 yd to infinity
Tall target-style turrets with 1/4 MOA clicks and 68 MOA of travel
XD glass with XR multi-layer coatings deliver edge-to-edge clarity
MAG-View Adjustment Lever - visible numbers facilitates rapid magnification adjustment
Precision-Force Spring System reduces fatigue and wear on the erector support system
Precision-Glide Erector System provides resistance to stress, thermal, and friction-induced wear
Dead-Hold BDC Reticle in the Second Focal Plane
The Dead-Hold BDC reticle features four thin posts and cross hairs. The larger gate is designed to accommodate hold over points upon the 6 o'clock stadia.
Second focal plane placement of the reticle maintains its size throughout the magnification range.

    Vortex VPR-M-06BDC reviews

6.5-20x50 Viper PA Riflescope (Matte Black) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Scope at an unbeatable price I have the Viper 6.5-20x50 PA on my Remington SPS .300Rum with a 20MOA rail and rings. I use Barnes VOR-TX 300 Remington Ultra Magnum 180 Grain TTSX Polymer Tipped Spitzer factory ammo "until I start reloading". With this setup I have had phenomenal success down range. I have set this scope up with no issue shooting great groups with no scope adjustments after sight in. I don't have the upgraded turret system but I will shortly. I use this gun for hunting ELK and a little long range action. I am a second focal plane scope guy so this thing when shooting short or long range works for me! I will be trying a Viper PST next for my bench gun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value! I bought one of these about six months ago and mounted it on a Savage FCP-SR .308 WIN rifle. I have shot in a couple of local precision rifle type matches with it and have been very happy with it. It has held its zero perfectly and the glass is very clear! The Mil-Dot reticle is why I chose this scope and it has not disappointed me, I only wish there was a First Focal Plane option. This is an excellent optic at its price point!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good purchase great price I bought this for my 243 shooting varmits at the 5 to 600 yd distance. Good clear magnification at this range. Looses some clarity at lower light levels but overall a good solid scope for a great price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good value I have 2, 6.5-20X50's, both on light recoil .204R & .22-.250 - optics sort of approach Leupold 6.5-20X50 30mm but not quite but cost about 1/2. Have subjected both scopes to heavy use with no problems. Eye relief is quite short and ring mounting surface is limited making these scopes more suitable for short action rifles

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 PA I'll buy one more for one of my other rifles! Full of easy to use features at an affordable price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nicely built, clear glass, but fatal flaw I picked this scope out to purchase after a lot of research. It is nicer than my previous Primary Arms 4-14x FFP scope as far as glass clarity and crispness in the elevation and windage dials, and the mildot reticle is sharp. The big issue: the reticle is mildot but the dials are MOA so in order to take advantage of the mildot you have to do conversions to and from the turrets. This is ridiculous. Mils for mildots and MOA for MOA reticles. Had I known this before I bought I would have selected another brand. I use mildot reticles with the Mildot Master computer and now have to add converting back and forth from MOA to mils and vis versa in normal use! I cannot say I'm a fan of both turrets being covered either. That might work OK with various types of Christmas Tree reticles but for a simple mildot or MOA reticle. These will require dialing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this scope! I have had this scope for a little over two months now, and I am truly impressed. The scope is mounted on a Rem 700 in .30-06. Between my son and I we have already put 3 to 4 boxes through the rifle after mounting the scope, ranging from 150 grain to 180 grain, recoil has not affected my zero and eye relief has not been a problem. We were quickly ringing steel at 300 yards with no problem. What has really impressed me is the image quality at night. We set up with green lights intermediately placed 25 yards out to 175 yards, and are able to see out to nearly 200 yards on a pitch black night. The rifle has fallen three to four feet at least twice and has held zero without a problem. I am already looking for my next Vortex scope purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most crisp Glass Ive ever owned I shoot a Rem 700 .308. I grew up hunting in Africa and spent a lot of time behind a gun. Ive since moved to America and hunt a wide range of landscape. Im either in thick brush shooting problem hogs from 20-50 yards or dealing with coyotes in an open field out to 400-500 yards or like last month sitting in a thick dark creek bottom chasing White tailed deer, this scope has not let me down yet! Its bright in low light,m its always clear, I've not had it fog up on me yet. My next scope will be in this same series for my .300um
