Honl Photo HONL-STRAP Overview

The HonlPhoto Speed Strap is the building block for the Speed System line of shoe-mount flash modifiers and accessories. The Speed Strap wraps around the head of any shoe mount flash unit, and has a non-slip underside, so it won't budge when attached. The strap provides a large "hook-and-loop" wraparound area, which allows you to quickly attach Speed Grids, Speed Gobos, Speed Snoots or Honl Gels.

I purchased several of these to add modifiers to my speed lights. Perfect for adding gels in a pinch. The rubber backing prevents sliding once secure.

Durable, but...

IF I had nothing to compare this strap to, I would give it a better review. Fact is, I lost mine during/after the second use. The part that touches the flash does have a rubber backing, but it wasn't very sticky. I was using it to hold a Lumi-Quest softbox on a Canon 430 EX II flash. The whole thing fell off several times while light painting at night. If you are only going to use it in a stationary position, it should be fine. If you are going to be moving around, holding it under your arm or shoving it in a coat pocket, you may have a problem. When I replaced it, I went with the Lumi-Quest strap. They look the same online, but they definitely are not. The Honl uses stiff durable nylon and velcro with a rubber backing. The Lumi-Quest doesn't use as heavy a weight of nylon, but it does incorporate elastic and a sticky rubber backing. The Lumi-Quest meets my needs more.

I love the Velcro straps when used in conjunction with the filter gels on the end of my speedlights. Can't live without them!

The Photo Speed Strap is a necessity for using HONL light modifiers on speedlights and generally works well with attaching small softboxes, bounce cards, etc. Still wish HONL would move into the magnetic attachments.
