Ezybox Hot Shoe Softbox Kit (24 x 24") is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 216.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great indoors and outdoors! Extremely portable, very effective at diffusing light without losing power! Before I took the plunge investing in this softbox, I was using a Gary Fong Whaletail diffuser paired with a shoot-through umbrella - almost the same quality of light as the Ezybox, but a tremendous waste of power. With the Ezybox, I can recycle quickly even while shooting in full daylight. Although it didn't seem necessary at the time I purchased it, I would recommend the optional extender handle for the Ezybox in consideration of your assistants. Here are a few images I've shot using only the Ezybox, a reflector and small background @

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice light, bulkier than expected. Nice unit, it is well made but isn't as flat as I had envisioned. That is not completely bad, but I measured mine at 12 inches by 7 inches when put away - something to consider if you want to put it into a backpack. It does make a nice light source and I do like it - just consider its size. Also, the SB900 flash adapter that you supposedly need is NOT needed. The EZYBOX has two places toput flashes - my 900 works fine on one end and my 28 works fine on the other end. This adaptor also has no way of attaching to the EZYBOX anyway as the screws are not the right size - so do not buy the adaptor - not needed and doesn't work anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice quality to the light; easy to use i use this for potraits both inside and outside when i can't use my studio lights. i like it a lot. there is a really nice quality to the light and i like that i can use my canon 580 ex2 with it. i trigger the flash with pocketwizards using ettl. it is very easy to set up and take down. it fits nicely on a stand. i would recommedn getting the lastolite tilt head as an accessory so that you can tilt the softbox as you like. the softbox seems to be best when no more than 8 feet away from subject. i've only used it for one person, but i think it would work okay for 2 or 3 people if positioned correctly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Quality of Light I use this product a lot in on location and lifestyle work. It is light, easy for my assistants to hold and gives an amazing quality of light. It is also easy and fast to set up. I also purchased and use the Lastolite diffuser set to help control the light in more precise ways. I especially like the deep edges of the box which allow me to feather the light. The only thing I would like to see from this light modifier is an adapter kit that would allow me to use it with a profoto and Einstein 640 head as I like the precise ness and quality of light and would love to be able to use it with my larger light kits. hope your listing to this Lastolite!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Still a little too much contrast Even though this box has an inner baffle, the light is still has more contrast than I really like however, 24 inches is just that (24 inches) and the smaller the box the more contrast in the light. I use the box very close to my subject but I still need to use a reflector to fill in the shadow side. But let's face it folks, a 72 box outside needs two people just to stabilize it. This box works well for it's designed purpose, to modify portable lighting and give professional results. It's not as easy to use as an umbrella but the quality of the light suits my style and a medium gust of wind won't send your light flying outdoors as would an umbrella.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a difference! I tend to shoot a lot with my Canon speedlites, but getting soft-even light from them can be challenging with traditional diffusers and flash modifiers. I decided to try the Hot Shoe EZYBOX Softbox Kit in 2 sizes and I love them both! I have now used it in outdoor shoots to provide nice natural-looking fill, in the studio for a key light, and the results are just superb! The kit is very easy to set up (<5 minutes, but I'm getting faster at it each time I use it), very simple to use, and it's just a pleasure to see the shots that I get in the end. I recommend a handle for it also, such as the EXT HANDLE f/ EZYBOX HOTSHOE. This allows you or an assistant to easily hold it in place when you are on-location.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Top notch softbox This softbox really is top notch in almost every way. The quality of light, ease of setup and breakdown, bracket quality (although it is plastic, we'll see how it lasts) and small foot print are fantastic. I do wish it came with a grid similar to competitor offerings and I do think it's a bit on the pricey side. I do have to say though, the setup is amazingly simple and the quality of light is awesome. I'm using this with SB-900 flashes and pocket wizard FlexTT5 wireless transceivers. In order to get the flash head right into the back of the box, I need to mount the FlexTT5 sideways on the mount and rotate the flash head 90 degrees. Mounting it this way works fine and the head goes into be back of the box about 1/2 inch.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Softbox; Plastic Bracket This is an excellent softbox but the flash mounting bracket is plastic - heavy duty plastic but I feel it really should be metal. You need to make sure that your flash (and wireless adapter) can be SECURELY attached to the supplied bracket. I decided to mount my 580EXII flash via a Canon OC-E3 equivalent short cord and a generic L bracket - I did not feel the supplied mounting bracket was sufficiently secure. Note that you will need a double-ended spigot and an umbrella adapter to permit changing the angle of the softbox.
