Vixen Optics 1530 overview

  • 1Description

A classically designed porro prism binocular, the Vixen 7x50 ZCF Geoma is quite light for its 50mm-diameter objective lenses and makes for a perfect lower magnification astronomical binocular.  It yields a flat focus field with extremely low astigmatism, so that stars are sharp pinpoints for the vast majority of the 6.6° view.  Eye relief is plentiful at 18mm, and you can attach the ZCF to a tripod, car window mount, or monopod if needed.

A classic "field glass" with plentiful light gathering
Vixen's own "PFM" Perfect Full Multicoating
Easily hand-held for extended periods
BaK-4 Porro prisms
Pebble-grained covering provides tactile feel
Center focusing
1/4"-20 Threaded tripod socket
Peel-down type rubber eyecups
Quite light for a 7x50 binocular
Made in Japan

Vixen Optics 1530 reviews

7x50 ZCF Geoma Binocular is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for Astronomy This is my first set of binoculars and it works very well to make visible M43 in Orion, and the Pleiades star cluster among other objects that can't be seen with the naked eye in my suburban backyard. The optics are very clear and the binoculars are lightweight but durable. It's useful to have the tripod adapter to stabilize the image - especially useful to point out sky objects to my kids. It is comfortable when wearing glasses, which I do when with others so that we don't need to readjust the focus between taking turns. The only reason I didn't give a 5 star is that the objective lens caps tend to fall off all the time when hiking around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing optics Just bought them today in NY. tried many sub-500$ binos in the BH store and these where well over the bunch! A welcomed but maybe controversial vintage look and a nice tough (and almost chic ) holding box... The counterpart is that they are not weather proof but this depends on your needs. for spotting and long observation in no-rain days they are really great for what they cost, really nice and unbelievably made in Japan while most others are made in China ! Sharpsp, light wieight, wide field, easy and tolerant focus, what else? Rare and excellent binos I am also A swarovski and zeiss owner

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid 7x50s I've never owned a pair of binoculars in this price point and vintage. These are a proven design, conservative, and the deliver what they promise. Pros: * Optics (great for peering into the shadows) * Weight (well balanced) * Build quality (smooth focusers, solid construction) * Comfortable strap Cons: * Fold down rubber eyepieces (I'm really glad I don't need to wear glasses with these) * Rear caps are a chunky single piece that only work correctly when the eyepieces are folded down (I see no reason to have to fold down the eyepieces when I don't need to. * Front caps tend to come off when you pull the binoculars from their case.
