One Touch Recording
One Touch Recording makes recording your favorite show simple. Connect this unit to your cable or satellite box and you are set to record with the push of one button. Please note: an external tuner source is required to record television programming.

    Toshiba DVR620 Reviews

    DVR620 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 209.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice job of copying old VCR's Bught this to copy old VCR's to DVD's. It does the job quite well. Also works fine as a DVD player (NOT blu-ray), or just to play old VHS tapes. My only complaint is that the instructions in the manual are a little confusing. I did better by ignoring them and doing what makes sense. After figuring out how to copy VHS to DVD, I re-read the directions, and they are actually accurate, though they include a lot of extra steps - mostly setting parameters that you would rarely, if ever, need to change. Design is fine. A bit large by current standards, byut that's probably to be expected in anything that includes VHS. Overall a good product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, does what it says Only used for a week but works as advertised. Not hard to setup but not easy to remember and buried in manual. I've marked key pages in the manual since it covers a lot of things including editing DVD-RW disks (do people use these?) I dubbed from home personal VHS tapes (in machine), MiniDV from camera thru 4pin to 4pin firewire (deck controls Firewire camera) , and from DVR, all to DVD-R disks with no problems. Auto-sets chapters every 10 minutes (you can adjust) 1,2,4,6 and 8hr quality settings. Naming videos time consuming since it uses old phone style (multiple presses on numbers for different characters). By default labels with date and time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works good, a little complex to start. I bought the unit for my dad to convert a lot of VHS tapea he has mad with family pictures to DVD since the family has fewer VHS players any more. I tested it before i gave it to my dad (96 years old) and found it a little confusing at first but was able to get a couple of DVD's created and was able to show my dad and I think he is going to be able to do okay. I like the instructions that show the remote with the buttons you use highlighted. I initially had trouble playing the DVD's I created on my PC or other players until I discovered you need to finalize them, I think I found a setup option that will do that automaticly. All in all I think it is going to do the job for my dad just fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what you need This machine is the answer to those of us who still have old VHS tapes lying around that are still good (think wedding videos), or are movies that haven't been released on DVD. You can convert them to DVD (caveat; only if the VHS tape allows copying). Now to the technical stuff. The machine is very easy to use, not a lot of steps needed to do whatever it is you want to do. I've owned VHS-DVD recorders before, but their quality left something to be desired. When I found out Toshiba made one, I had to try it. I currently own and have owned in the past Toshiba products, and have always been impressed with their quality and performance. The DVR620 is no exception. Great for old guys like me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Toshiba DVR620 I had purchased this unit to convert my Home videos to digital format and store them on my computer. The features are great, and it is a very nice unit, the best of the 3 Toshiba DVD/VCR combo that B&H offers. However, I faced a strange issue with the unit. While playing my VHS-C tapes, using the adaptor, the unit would unpredictably stop and SHUT DOWN! After trying multiple times with a few different tapes, I called B&H customer service and they agreed (easily) to exchange it for me, with free return shipping. I am waiting for the new unit to arrive in a couple of days, and I will try to amend this review then. B&H customer Service, and the selection they offer is one of the best available from online vendors.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I sent the DVD/VCR recorder back! I bought this recorder to transfer my VHS tape to DVD but unfortunately I didn't get to use it. I got it hooked up ok, it fairly simple but I couldn't get pass the initial set up: step 2. I called the support number that came with the dvd recorder for help but the agent told me they did not have live technical support that I would have to go on the internet for help. I did just that but the internet support system didn't address my problem. Since I couldn't get the dvd recorder to work and I had no support I sent the thing back. I'm a simple 68 year of old woman that's not technically inclined. That's why I also purchased the extended warranty but what good is it if I can't get any support.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Item defective The doors to both the DVD and VHS drives did not open. The Toshiba phone number that came with the product for customer support connected you to a computer message telling you to go to a website. The website in turn told you to call the number already given. I had to call the number for laptop customer support to actually speak to a human being who in turn gave me a working # for the DVD/VHS Recorder support. After all this I was told the problem was obviously mechanical (I had managed to figure that out on my own) and instructed me to return the item to B&H for an even exchange. Customer support at B&H- unlike Toshiba- was easy to reach and has been working to resolve the issue (they were unfortunately out of stock so unless they have a comperable item, I will be refunded). B&H has very good customer support and I will shop with them again. I will however not be looking at Toshiba products. The product and Toshiba's customer support did not rate the single star I gave but no star was not an option. B&H customer service rates a 5 star.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Brand new unit doesn't work I set up my brand new unit, straight out of the box, and was totally unable to get the DVD tray to open. Hours spent on the web trying to find a fix, and discovered that others have had the same problem. The unit comes with a sheet listing three telephone numbers to call for tech support and customer service-- none of them connects with a human being. Oh, and Toshiba's solution? I have to pay to ship the unit back to them. Outrageous. Last time I purchase a product from them.
