Flashtube for D1 Monolight - 1000Ws Maximum is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Take Care and Wear Gloves In case it's not clear, this tube works with BOTH the D1 500 and the D1 1000w/s monolights. Which is kinda useful if you have a mixture of 500/1000's like I do. Keeping a spare around makes a lot of sense. (But note: the D1 250w/s head uses a different flashtube, found elsewhere on B&H.) I just replaced a D1 flashtube for the first time. I'm good with tools, but the process was slightly nerve wracking. That little ring at 12 o'clock (top-center) on the tube is made of a stiff metal foil. So removing a damaged tube means first unwrapping that foil from the metal igniter wire that protrudes from the D1. It's little and fussy. I used a very small flat screwdriver to peel it off. Then, after plugging a new tube in place, used a pair of small round jeweler's pliers to carefully wrap the new foil around the igniter wire for good contact. Common needle nose pliers should work too. If you're good with minor mechanical surgeries like this, it's not too bad. Take your time.. and wear nitrile or latex rubber gloves to keep the tube clean. It fired right up afterward, and metered spot-on. Profoto delivers!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Where do I begin? I've been using Profoto equipment since 2002 with no problems. I purchased 4 D1 1000Ws Monolights approximately 4 years ago. Three of them worked great, but I had to repeatedly reseat one of the flash tubes (per the advice of Rita C) at Mac Group to get it to fire after any type of transport even in Air Cases. Eventually, I began experiencing the same problem with another head. Now I cannot get either head to fire. So, per the advice of Profoto customer service, I purchased two new flashtubes from B&H. Only to discover that wasn't the problem and the heads still do not power. Unfortunately, since I opened the packages, I was unable to acquire a RMA for a refund a day after the item arrived. So, now I've had to ship the two heads and the 2 brand new flashtubes and the 2 original flashtubes to Profoto for repairs which are no longer under warranty (even though I have records of reporting the problems immediately after the initial purchase of the heads). I'd encourage B&H and Profoto to stand behind their products and offer refunds on purchases of new flashtubes when the source of the problem is in the body of the head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a replacement bulb, and it works. What can I say, it's the only replacement bulb for the d1 500/1000 and it works. I probably get about 100,000-200,000 flashes out of Each bulb before I have to replace them. Quick notes: When your bulbs start misfiring, bring the power up to 10 and then back down to the power setting you desire. If the light does not fire at all at the setting you want, try raising the power one notch at a time until it fires consistently. You can use the light at this higher power for a while longer before replacing your bulb....and when it does fail, repeat the process until the light simply won't provide the power range you desire. I have 15 of these heads and each one has seen well over 1,000,000 flashes. Typically I'll shoot sbout 30,000 - 60,000 shots per weekend on each head. They are quite reliable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive Requirement I use this flashtube in Profoto D1 Air 500 monolight. The replacement mechanics can be intimidating since the small wires at the top of the tube must be wrapped around a small protruding wire. This was my first time to replace the flashtube in the D1. Study the old flash tube before proceeding with replacement. Profoto flashtubes are expensive but B&H has the lowest price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flashtube, same as what it came with Just a normal flashtube, same as what came with the unit. It broke in transit after being checked on a plane and left me down one head once I arrived for a job. I'm back to firing on all strobes now.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement Flashtubed As with most Profoto items, I would give this 5 stars if the price were about 25-30% less. It is a little tedious to install, with older poorer closeup vision, but works fine.
