    Pelican 1300 reviews

1300 Case with Foam (Olive Drab) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 109.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nikon Camera's Don't Float Anticipating the worst, prior to my canoeing trip down the Shenandoah River in April 08, I purchased the Pelican 1300 w/foam to protect my Nikon D80 camera. The foam insert was easily crafted to fit my camera, cell phone, and car keys. Unfortunately the worst came to past. While disembarking the canoe halfway into the trip, the canoe tipped over. I, along with the Pelican case, ended up in the river. After wading to shore, I opened the Pelican case and everything in case including my cell phone was dry and in working order. Sadly however, I was taking pictures with my Nikon D80 (not in the Pelican Case) when the canoe tipped over so my camera submerged in the river and was a total loss. Oh, if only I had placed it in the Pelican case!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pelican Quality, No Surprises I purchased this case to protect my DSLR during a week-long canoe trip through Algonquin, CAN. It held my Nikon D90 and the attached 18-200mm lens perfectly and provided the recommended 1 of foam all the way around the DSLR/lens combo. There was room down the side of the lens for extra batteries, but not much else. I had the (accidental!) opportunity to test this case out when we flipped our canoe over stepping in. The case floated high in the water, and the inside remained bone dry! If you want peace-of-mind you can't go wrong with Pelican. My only gripe is the amount of weight and bulk that this case added to my backpack, but I knew what I was getting into when I purchased it. I accepted the weight penalty to insure that my camera came home intact.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love Pelican Cases This is not my 1st Pelican case, nor will it be my last. I was quite surprised when I open the case to start going at the foam, when I noticed the pick and pluck was different. Other cases, the foam is attached by small squares, not small square strips, which is in this case. The case is higher than normal, so there's 2 layers of foam, but if I did it there way, my camera would have only had the small bottom layer foam to sit on, so I had to hack away at the foam to give my camera a more padded base, as it didn't need to be sitting all the way on the bottom for the lid to close.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great description of product I have a Canon Rebel T1i with two lenses, and I can fit the body and two lenses in it. It's a tight fit but it works. I got it specifically for kayaking and hunting. It works great for kayaking and can't wait for hunting. The only thing I don't like about this case are the foam inserts with the small blocks. The older cases had larger blocks and were easier to work with. All in all though, this is a great case. I would definitely recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small and tough Holds a D800 and mounted lens- either my 25mm Distagon and a Nikor 105. Goes one direction with the one lens and the other with the other. I have not used the pick foam because I wanted to keep the arrangement adjustable. So I lined it with some thiner foam. I use it while canoing/lanscapes. The case is ridgid and well made, is NOT light weight- but then neither is my camera. The camera is just high enough to jam into the top and bottom foam and keep everything from rattling around. I'd be careful storing equipment with this closed without desicant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent protection while on the water I purchased this case to transport my Olympus E-M5 and 75-300mm lens while I'm kayaking. I'm able to load the case onto the kayak and travel between shooting spots on the water without worrying about the gear getting wet or damaged. The case is very well built and seems very secure. The foam insert was easy to adjust to the sized spaces I needed and I'm confident that the case would protect the gear against minor drops, etc. Not sure that I'd submerge it, but if it ever fell overboard while latched, I'm certain that the camera would survive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I wanted I'm already sold on Pelican and this case just secures the relationship. They're rugged, practical and waterproof. And the desert tan color is the perfect option for my needs: I'm converting the case into a remote camera housing for wildlife photography, and the color is a real good base for camouflaging the unit. The plastic also allows me to cut holes for lenses and wires etc. In terms of security, I'm not real confident in the plastic padlock holes to keep out a determined thief, but then again, remote cameras are inherently risky.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snug as a Bug in a Rug! I purchased this case so I could take my Canon 40D out on the boat with me and be ready for some great sunrise & sunset shots without having to be paranoid all day about the camera getting wet or sandy. It is large enough to protect my camera with the 28-135mm lens on it yet small enough to fit up on the top of my console. It was very easy to pull out the foam to fit my camera and I even wound up with enough space for my lens cleaning kit. Will definitely consider a larger version for travel as I expand my equipment requirements.
