Tiffen 52HZE overview

  • 1Description

The Tiffen 52mm UV Haze 1 Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Absorbs most ultraviolet light and reduces bluish cast of daylight.
Clear filter provides no additional coloration or contrast, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
General protection filter reduces dust, moisture, and scratches from reaching lens elements.

    Tiffen 52HZE reviews

52mm UV Haze 1 Filter is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 31.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lens essential Using a UV Filter as a lens protector is common knowledge among photographers. Using the Tiffen Haze-1 filter on my lenses has been a great decision. The Haze-1 cuts out a significant portion of the UV spectrum. While our eye's can't see it, the sensor in the camera is partly sensitive to this spectrum. The filter removes the UV discoloring under certain shooting conditions. The cost of these filters make them affordable to keep on each of my lenses, so that I don't even need to worry about changing the filter from one to the other.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Filter I purchased the UV filter for use on my new Panasonic DMC FZ40 camera for both haze filtering and physical protection of the lens glass. It is a great filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality That Does the Job Bought as a physical protection for my lenses (I have young kids). It's being mounted on a DSLR so its optical benefit is insignificant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap protection for your lens This is a great way to protect your glass, it is also a cheap way to go about doing it

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not worth it I got this to use with my Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens and ended up just using the lens without it because I got terrible ghosting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from flare Screws on easily and stays put until I want to take it off. Seems to cause flare on my 50mm 1.8 II when shooting things like sunsets. For cheap protection of the front element, it's worth having it the rest of the time. The price is right for my cheap lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Filter is a must Nothing bad to say about this filter. Tiffen makes a fine product and filters are a must for all lenses. There was no downside. I have a basic UV filter on all of my lenses at all times to avoid scratching and damage to the actual glass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inexpensive lens protection I use this Tiffen filter to protect my expensive lenses. There is no distortion in the glass and the quality of construction of the filter is quite good considering the price. The filter fits the lens housing without issues.
