Tiffen 58HZE overview

  • 1Description

The Tiffen 58mm UV Haze 1 Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Absorbs most ultraviolet light and reduces bluish cast of daylight.
Clear filter provides no additional coloration or contrast, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
General protection filter reduces dust, moisture, and scratches from reaching lens elements.

    Tiffen 58HZE reviews

58mm UV Haze 1 Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 53.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from bad quality I have bought Tiffen filters in the past and they were fine so i expect as much when i bought this one. but right away i found it to be very problematic and it created very extreme flares very visible in my pictures, especially when pointing at direct lighting. i returned it right away and got a filter from a different company. and price DOES make a difference. this filter was not worth the cheap price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Filter I have this filter on my sigma 70-300 and it works great. I have a Promaster that i bought with my camera and I can't see a difference between the two picture quality wise. the only difference I can see from the two is this is a little bit wider shell than the Promaster. Nothing I cant deal with.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Reflects Light I bought this filter to protect my 50mm f/1.8 G lens. While it does the job, when used indoors, the light reflected on the filter is also captured in the photos. Unlike the other multi-coated filter that I have, this one adds inconsistent effects to the images I shoot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the Job I bought this to protect my camera glass. I recently did a shoot on a bright beach, and it didn't perform the best under all that light, but still does a good job of protecting the lens. I probably would go with something better for L glass.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy this filter This filter does NOT have any coating. It produces huge reflections, especially in night shooting. It's just disaster, you can see the ghost image of even a tiny light dot. I really doubt why Tiffen put such thing on the market...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fine in lieu of a lens cap pretty standard clear filter. I don't actually use it except when I am shooting in a dusty/standy environment (the 50mm f/1.8 has some exposed moving parts). For lenses without exposed moving parts, i never use a clear filter...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great product, great price The only reason why this is not a 5 star is because there are a few better quality filters out there...but the price cannot be beat at the quality of the product. I recommend this as an all around filter/protection lens filter

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy install I use these as a means to protect my lens from scratches and dust. So far they have served me fairly well in that purpose. I haven't taken any comparison shots to see what sort of difference they have on photos themselves.
