Tiffen 77HZE overview

  • 1Description

The Tiffen 77mm UV Haze 1 Filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. This filter is especially useful when photographing at high altitudes or around bodies of water. No additional coloration or contrast is provided, allowing you to pair this filter with others.

The UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times. Filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology; a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, then mounting to precision metal rings.

Absorbs most ultraviolet light and reduces bluish cast of daylight.
Clear filter provides no additional coloration or contrast, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
General protection filter reduces dust, moisture, and scratches from reaching lens elements.

    Tiffen 77HZE reviews

77mm UV Haze 1 Filter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 64.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from For Protection Only I use this filter as protection during transportation or during events where my gear may be compromised only. The Pros: Its clear and it will stop the front element of my lens from shattering The cons: Absolutely terrible Ghosting/flare. If you plan on shooting in controlled environments (ex studios, home, etc) make sure to take it off. If you shoot in more hostile environments (ex hiking, sporting events, outdoors) where there is little chance of having bright light sources in the image than leave it on. I gave it two stars because I didn't expect the highest quality for the lowest price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protects without looking like it is there. I feel better knowing there is a piece of glass between me and the lens. Does not affect image quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, great price. If you are looking for a 77mm UV filter/protector for a wide angle lens, this is it. The filter frame produces no vignetting on a Tamron 10-24mm for Canon. The filter frame still has enough edge to use the stock Tamron lens cap. The low profile Tiffen Haze-1 does not accommodate the lens cap. Completely satisfied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it's supposed to do I've had a PRO B+W filter and an ordinary Tiffen UV before, among others. I bought this UV Haze because of positive feedback on the Internet. It works as advertised for the price. The only problem I had was the filter thread is quite thin and shallow, and when I put it on my Canon 24-105 lens, I wasn't able to fully put the Canon lens cover back on properly--it doesn't close fully. So I ordered a pinch-cap and hopefull that will solve this problem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Why put plastic onto glass lens For the price, you can't beat this filter. It is good quality and fits perfectly on the lense I bought. I use UV filter on all my lenses to give scratch protection, eliminate UV. This was the cheapest glass filter I could find. Some other filter are plastic coated UV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job I got this filter to protect my lens after my last filter got dirty and I couldn't get it clean. So far, it does the job. Other people tried to talk me into getting a much more expensive one, but I haven't had any problems with this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Standard Filter I ordered it for my 70-200mm vr lens. I did notice some situations where I was getting some glare from it shooting into the sun. I'll keep it in my bag and use when I shooting under good lighting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consistent and reliable protection I have always used Tiffen for my lenses, for the reasons stated above. Tiffen is a name you can count on! Can't get anything much better than this for the price...
